1. Do you like the Experimental Upgrade feature? Which ship(s) did you put it on so far?
I like the concept of the experiment upgrade, but that's like saying I like the concept of the T5 Upgrade. I'm just hoping they don't go to T7 and we're just all going to get more Xs for our ships (as you'll notice the ship trait area has 4 more slots)...
I'd rather get new ships at T6 and modding them out, rather than a full blown T7. Then again, T7 will probably be all the mods, none of the fuss, so YMMV.
2. What do you think of the new episode?
It was good, but boy do I wish episodes were brought out faster. This really feels like such a slow burn that it isn't even funny. The episode at least went to the right place with the Empire falling a part and I gotta love the fact that the one who caused that is the sister of the guy who set it all up.
Because let's all be honest. If it wasn't for J'ula, it wouldn't have. J'mpok would've been dealt with in an easier fashion because he would've been "oh, noes, the heroes of the galaxy did the evil" and it would've been laughed out the damn park.
Also, I hope that at the end of the storyline that if you are Klingon, the Klingon player character is the one who kills J'mpok and becomes the leader of the Klingon Empire. I'm not even joking. What better way to get us to play Klingons. Why the hell would I play Federation, Romulan, or Dominion, when I know the payoff of the storyline for the Klingon character is becoming the Emperor.
Even better, tie it in so that if you have a Klingon character (and you need them at that point), that's the model used for the Klingon Emperor if your other characters interact with the Klingons later on. Hell turn around and have that guy show up at multiple parts of the journey.
Even better? Have us get House adopted or better yet, have us be direct descendent of Kahless himself. Sirellia is a good choice for adoption and hell, why not make it seem like prophecy is fulfilled when we become Emperor. Have our Emperor put Worf in the Chancellor role, Gawron as Leader of Our Armies, and ... whatever the spy guy as our top diplomat/spy master. Forgot his name and yes, I know he's already that position, but telling him he still is ensures that we agree he's the best for the job.
Also, yes. I'm not saying we become Chancellor. We're the damned hero of the Empire. We are above the rigors of a mere Chancellor. Also considering J'mpok considers himself Emperor, we're just taking over his role. Also, you can then play it up that Klingon's need stability and an Emperor would provide that. Then we tackle the freaking Federation's corruption with the Klingons always being right and being reasonable about things (in the Klingon way).
3. Are you happy with the new event?
No. It should've been a ten team TFO, with 5 rescuing people and needing protection, with 5 others providing protection. Also, when I beam people up, my shields should go down. They are up all the time.
The synth also don't hit hard enough. I'm barely bothered and I took the time to whip out a ship that wasn't filled with spore spawns.
4. What do you think of this Update over-all?
Middle of the road. It still is an upgrade, but one that really showcased all the problems that Star Trek (the franchise) has right now. Yeah, we have to have fire fights and stuff, but give me more episodes like the Lukari please. Where we see strange new worlds. Because while we might've been around the block, there's plenty of planets out there. We can go visit more of those. Please?
Also, Lukari needs to have its own starting point. I want to be on Kuumarke's team.

Can you say POWER CREEEEEEEEEEEP! >.>
Haven't played the episode yet
The set seems nice for Sci...but not happy with how they launch the back to back to back events (Which is a ploy to get people to open their wallets and buyout instead of wasting weeks doing the same thing over and over) The STF is kinda meh...just another shoot-em-up (or at least how some players are treating it) Maybe it's just me but I find the music for it irritating.
Overall rather meh...in other threads I've made it obvious how disappointed I am with how little love the Klingons are getting in the Year of the Klingon, so I wont go into it...feels like the year is gonna be meh.

I just sat down last night and played the "other" new episode that oddly hasn't really received much publicity at all. For KDF players, the old intro mission where you launch a surprise attack on Mars got reworked with this patch too. Aside from the "top level" story idea, the mission is pretty much a complete rework. No more skulking around in a wimpy stolen Federation runabout, you use your own ship. Completely new maps and new dialogue. I played it on my lvl 65 KDF main (it pops up as a "new" mission for all KDF players) and thought it was pretty well done. Playing through it made it feel like there was a little more of the content depth I would have expected from a major update. Worth a look in my opinion and interesting to see the old FED vs. KDF content again since we are all in one big happy Alliance family with all the contemporary storylines.

1. Do you like the Experimental Upgrade feature? Which ship(s) did you put it on so far?
It gives a bit more flexibility and it'll help some of the more lacklustre ships to become more attractive options for players, so in that sense it's good. On the other hand, there's no content that really needs this extra boost at the end of the day and it's adding further to the power creep. That being said, if it stops them from even remotely considering a T7 approach, I'll take it. Adding a T7 line will be a bridge too far for many players and I think Cryptic knows this and is one of the few things they'll actually listen to and heed.
I added mine to the Legendary Sovereign and installed a 3rd piece of the Assault Cruiser Technologies set to improve the turn rate and get a little extra damage boost.
2. What do you think of the new episode?
While the plotline was good, I felt the running time was padded out with far too much ground combat. It would have been nice to have seen it going down the path of investigation more than pew-pew-pew.
3. Are you happy with the new event?
It's a car crash in the current broken state. Doing that for 20 days when it doesn't work properly is a waste of time whether you try and do it properly or use the afk queue trick. Playing it is like 30 minutes of having your teeth pulled out, but only half as fun.
4. What do you think of this Update over-all?
I'm so-so on it. I'm already displeased about the state STO has got itself into and what it has become over the last year or 2 - It still feels quite light for the wait, the year of the Klingon seems to involve shooting nearly everyone we encounter (what else is new?) and there's going to be a big question mark over how to go forward with the story when they tie off this arc. The rumour was that Victory Is Life was the last hurrah they had on the storyboard - it was also rumoured that there was meant to be an arc directly afterwards that would have dealt with the return and final defeat of Mirror Leeta, but it was scrapped when Discovery came along and gave the devs new ideas. Now with Discovery jumping far forwards, what happens with it is no longer available to tie back into the game so the story could well be approaching another brick wall behind the scenes..
I went back in to see this new update and I'll be honest, it hasn't swayed me.

I'm putting this here because this ship is coming next week. Was shown on Facebook, but since I don't use Facebook, I can't find the link. Anyways,
So if you are wondering why it is in the game, the spoiler is why.

1. Do you like the Experimental Upgrade feature? Which ship(s) did you put it on so far?
I'm indifferent to it. It's made my Legendary ships more OP than they already were. My Intrepid now hosts 2 Universal slots, for example. It's even more OP on my Legendary Pilot Tactical Escort, using the Quantum Bombardment console for the torp damage. I don't need all this DPS as there no new endgame to put this in.
2. What do you think of the new episode?
Yes and no. I'm not sure where the story is headed now. Perhaps Cryptic is trying to erupt another Klingon Civil War and get the Klingon fight against UFP again, which means all the past expansions building towards Alliance were for nought? It's like they are keen on cancelling their writers work thus far.
3. Are you happy with the new event?
It's good to see something new, but I can tell this is not something anything will be doing again and again. They are unable to make anything that beats the classic Borg STFs for several years now.
4. What do you think of this Update over-all?
I took it as slow as I could, took 1 whole day to plot which character would upgrade which ship. However by the second day, I was done with TFO and the singular episode they released. All that remains is just the event grind. My opinion remains the same, they need to get back to making more content, so that upgrading the ships or doing anything in general feels more meaningful.
