Would have to be some sort of time travel angle to pull this off convincingly, if he did appear in SNW and taking the assumption that it will begin in 2258, picking up from where Discovery S2 ended, (and I know the Kelvin timeline fudged the reference in a bit) then Archer would be 146 years old at that point - that's older than McCoy was at the start of TNG.

I suspect given the negative feelings towards the Enterprise finale, they'll steer well clear of the holodeck angle.

I would say, if they do bring back the NX-01... please not that horrible refit that's in STO. The ship doesn't suit the TOS era engineering section at the bottom in my personal opinon

That's actually based on an unused concept. The NX-Refit model was designed by Doug Drexler, who took the angle that the Enterprise would go into drydock after S4 for a refit and it would acquire the secondary hull and an assortment of other upgrades from the lessons learned to date so it was better equipped to deal with life out in the frontier.

I think you mean Season 4 which was the holodeck episode so that could easily be explained away as "creative licence" or someone making a mistake. The Columbia style bridge was a little over cramped imho, the classic NX Style bridge had better proportions.

Yeah, I've never been a fan of that design, it just looks ugly. I understand the concept behind it but, it just feels like a kitbash and an attempt to try and bridge the NX and TOS eras which isn't really required due to the difference in time between them.

It would make more sense to have him pop up in Strange New Worlds as I can see no way to link him to Picard unless they just try to shoehorn him in with some silly time travel plot.
He'd be pretty old but would presumably become and admiral at some point ( the Kelvin films confirm this as well).

I'm usually against older characters popping up in new shows unless it's done carefully and not taking away from the newer characters and stories. The Mandalorian did this pretty well I though; older characters appeared every so often but they didn't detract from the rest of the episodes or steal the limelight (even a certain Jedi was done carefully and thoughtfully)
I don't just want to have Archer just because they can; it needs a real purpose.

Maybe we can have someone trying out transwarp beaming and try transporting the Admirals current Beagle somewhere? (joking aside), I do agree with you there Sul, there's no point forcing a character into a plot if it doesn't do something to elevate the story or have a good reason.

Unless, Sam isn't blowing past the lifetime barrier but he's leaping into the life of Scott Bakula who is about to make a very big mistake in his career. Get Dean Stockwell to make a cameo too and have the pair just pass each other in a corridor and simply nod to one another.

I'd love it if Archer came back! In some ways, I am more interested in the NX era than I am in the other areas. I feel there's a lot of untapped potential there to explore the formation of the Federation and some of it's earlier challenges.

I think it'd be great to see Bakula again, and it'd be awesome to see Archers reaction to how far Humanity and the Federation has come.

Also, while we're here and the subject has been brought up. The NX-Refit needs to be cast back into whatever hellscape it clawed it's way out of.
