Been back on it for a few weeks now I am on the Europe Server and in the UFP Fleets in-game today been Sith Sorcerer Day as he has a story to catch up on that let me refresh for the new stuff coming in 2 weeks

Got a few very low level toons and a lvl 30. wondering whether to tinker for a little to relearn how to play or whether to roll a new one with a boost to high level for newer content.

any advice on class and species?

I would tinker first and hold off on the boost, as the next expansion is due in a couple of weeks and that's making a number of changes to the classes and the gearing system (the gearing system changes particularly are very unpopular and the primary reason why I binned my sub) so everyone's effectively back to the drawing board at that point.

I'd agree with Petrarch there, I've been playing a fair bit over the past week to get myself back into the swing of things.

I've not seen the changes but hopefully they're not as bad as everyone is saying I'll be looking to put up some TOR events soonish to help folk level etc

I have been reading the upgrade stuff and its a mixed bag i am getting from it some like and some dislike it I think for someone new or returning who is not max geared it may be a good thing so for myself that is not at 306 gear on any it could be of benefit.

The general overview of the changes is that currently it's possible to get max gear score regardless of what activities you do. Just needs time a bit of luck to get things the way you want them. The new system locks you into certain paths and gear/currency earned one way doesn't work for upgrading the others (unless they've tweaked that since) and the highest level gear is now reserved for Nightmare Raids.

The vibe from the existing NM raiders (and those Guild's that are friendly with certain devs) is that it's going to get everyone raiding, though the general feel on the ground at large was it's going to do the exact opposite and may also have people walking out on the game. Getting a slot on a NM raid team or even in general is going to be a very tall order that I think a lot of folks just won't bother with.
