Ten Forward Weekly 13/07/22

This week is copied from Reddit, only did ships last night and to busy to rewatch the stream and note up today. Essentially it was all ship talk last night with little other stuff discussed

• Jeremy is trying to get everyone on the system team trained to make ships since he makes all the ships(stat/programming wise. Thomas, EC Henry, etc. does the art)
• Kael wants the Yeager in the game, but many people who make decisions on what ships get added don't want it. And no one on the ship team likes it.
• Unlikely to do a Gorn story since SNW is likely not done with them
• New ship 1: Nobel class, T6 Olympic class
• This ship has the longest name in the game. Nobel Miracle Worker Research Science Vessel
• Has a fleet variant
• Each of the ships has Terran visual options. Terran skins are only available in the bundle. If you buy them individually there's no Terran options
• Release July 21st for PC, later on console
• Unlikely to make Jupiter station a new social zone(people in chat asked for it). There are a lot of social zones already, and its a lot of work to make even an existing map into a social zone.
• T6 Nobel console can only be used by the ships in this family. Its a new kind of saucer separation. This saucer is immobile and isn't a combat pet, but a support pet. Puts out a 3K field that regenerates shields/hardened for allies, enemies have shields weakened/drained. also launched Kobiyashi Maru buffs. Has a fixed 60 duration, followed by a 60 second cool down.
• First designer note Jeremy put on the designer docs is "ponder the orb"
• Cryptic used to get 3D models and other reference assets from Eaglemoss(rip Eaglemoss)
• Ship trait is another attempt to make shield healing fun
• New ship 2: Bozeman Intel Heavy Frigate, Miranda variant.
• first frigate in the zen store
• Pods on the side of the ship are drone pods
• Console creates a tachyon net(based on the one from TNG) using drones. Anything in the net takes additional kinetic damage when critically hit
• New ship trait type. active ship traits. This starship trait is a clickable button power. Ship phases out and become untargetable. +crit chance, turn rate, flight speed. Initial cooldown is like 4 minutes. Using intel powers cause the cooldown to go down faster. Minimum cooldown is around 60 seconds
• Has a cloak due to being intel primary. Has raider flanking due to being frigate
• Unlikely to add cloaks to intel ships without them because they were designed that way intentionally against the normal intel ship rule
• Cryptic has acknowledged that this ship power may be an issue in PVP, but they aren't sure if they want to do anything about it.(they can't set different stats for items in PVP)
• Cryptic knows that a portion of STO is about the power fantasy, and they feel it OK to play into that sometimes
• Cryptic had talked about just adding hull to PVP players, but decided that didn't really solve any issues, it just moved them. And it may change PVP for the players who like it the way it is
• Ship has fleet version as well
• All the fleet versions for these ships require T4 shipyard
• Ship 3: Cabot Command Light Escort, Shran variant
• Old legendary ship traits wont be updates to work with surgical strikes for various reasons(design and balance)
• First ever command primary escort, at least on the Zen store
• Experimental weapon: Graviton Dissonance Flechette Projector. Basically a railgun shotgun. Projectiles knock shields offline if shields are at 15% or lower
• Trait Advance Precision Guided Munitions. Weapon firing modes grant kinetic weapons extra damage. Causes a detonation dealing X Kinetic damage. If weapon strikes a shield facing under 15%, does X kinetic damage
• Console External Massive Munition Hardpoints. Creates large massive quantum warhead which seeks for and detonates dealing kinetic damage to it and fores behind it in a cone. If 3 or more foes are hit by the same blast grants more kinetic weapon damage for 20 seconds. Has two charges, each with a 60 seconds recharge
• Fleet version is the Mcgee version. Fleet version don't unlock the experimental weapon
• Name of bundle: Federation responders bundle. Inspired by the Olympic originally supposed to be a hospital ship
• Bundles comes with the 3 ships, 1 100% off T6 ship coupon for the zen store, 6 ship slots, 6 experimental upgrade tokens, 3 fleet ship modules, mirror visuals, title: First responder
• Bundle price is 12,000 zen. On sale for 25% off until August 8th
• Jeremy wanted to do a follow up to Think Tank storyline, and look into the Vidiians supposedly being cured of the phage. Cryptic talked about doing the Vidiians, but they were uspposedly cured, and Jeremy came up with the idea that the cure may have been temporary, and the Think Tank was basically extorting them for more medication to keep the disease at bay. Mission would be discovering that, and trying to resolve the situation. Wanted to call mission "Think Again

Ten Forward Weekly 27/07/22

• Team looking at visuals with the new Jellyfish being rumoured to be causing players issues.
• Going to speak to someone about adding bridge options to ships with a free bridge.
• Campaign 3week event should be after the next red alert.
• Kael will ask if some of the new TFOs will see elite versions added.
• Strange new world content may happen towards the end of this year.
• The team are trying to figure out how to fix previous stuff in-game that no does not look like timelines and stories marry up.
• still, no permission for anything from prodigy so no protostar.
• The team are looking at ways to reduce other player effects for players to reduce visual spam.
• Thomas upgraded the borg visuals.
• factions in future will be half factions but unlikely to happen and it's likely to be player races rather than factions.
• the 2nd red alert event was a result of moving things around which meant we would have had no event up at all.
• Kael had a few bugs in events that could not leave cure space and then in khitomer vortex, he could not respawn or even warp out to take a leavers pen had to restart the game to sort out, wonder if he gets them fixed soon.
• allied ships will probably return via mudds or phoenix box he is unsure.
• Not heard anything about stopping the use of reshade.
• wants to get tribbles DPS test option on live sometime in the future.
• cross-platform account access is unlikely.
• Hopes the F in Picard is the STO variant.

Given I seem to have missed a few bits last night and u/TheSajuukKhar summary has a lot more I have added his additional link on the bottom if anyone wants to give him an upvote.

• Kael doesn't know when the ShiKahr skin updates are coming to console, but he will ask about it
• No current plans for more "lifeform" ships like the Jellyfish, doesn't mean they don't do more in the future
• Cryptic is looking into the Jellyfish console power being bright, and causing people issues
• Kael has talked to the team about getting currently existing bridges added to more ships that only have the basic bridge available. Kael believes you should be able to use any bridge you own
• One of the programmers is working on letting you zoom out more on consoles
• After the next Red Alert event is a 3 week event thats contributes to the event campaign
• Kael will ask about getting advanced and elite versions of Operation Wolf and Iuppiter Iratus added. Hes not sure why we wouldn't have them
• There is no SNW content on the calendar currently. So nothing for the next several months at least, maybe closer to the end of year
• Kael will ask about getting lower Decks haircuts added to the game. Kael is kind of excited about the SNW/LD crossover, hoping they do it full on Roger Rabbit style so they can just use them exactly how they looked in the show(side note, as far as I am aware they already confirmed the LD characters will be appearing in live action so this isn't going to pan out)
• If Picard S3 causes any significant changes to the timeline STO uses Cryptic will deal with if they want to say its an alternate timeline, or if Butterfly changed things, etc. Same thing with what happened with the Borg at the end of S2 of Picard
• Cryptic still hasn't gotten the OK from Nick to do Prodigy content
• Kael is pushing to have effects turned off from other players, but theres a lot of tech work that would need to be done since things like weapons are just effects, so character would have their hands up holding nothing if you turned off other player's effects
• There is news on the Sagan class(Stargazer from PIC S2)
• Unlikely to get Spotify integration into the STO music player since not a lot of people use it, and people who want to listen to music just tend to have Spotify or w/e open on another tab
• If STO does become an alternate timeline that would give them more leeway in terms of content, but the trade off would be the game loosing a lot of the legitimacy Cryptic has tried built up
• More likely to see STO focused story arcs with guest characters from across the series then something like a TNG or ENT specific story arc
• Updates to Borg ships came because Thomas decided to update them
• Unlikely to add new half factions like Romulans and Dominion due to the amount of work needed, especially for the new tutorial. More likely to add more player races to existing factions
• Kael isn't sure Cryptic will redo things like the weapon/power layouts for the ships in missions like "Step Between Stars". He knows there were reasons why the ships were designed the way they were. Likely to give players as wide of a taste as possible and not force them to any one thing
• No current plans to update anything like old uniforms/older races
• Stuff had to be moved around on the schedule and so we got this double Red alert event instead of just having nothing, console had the same happen earlier in the year, and so now thats filtering down to PC
• Unlikely we will ever be able to use PC accounts on consoles since the game was designed when such things weren't allowed, so it was never set up to even possibly to do it
• Kael has heard nothing about stopping the use of Reshade
• Kael would like to get the DPS testing map from tribble on live, but theres work that needs to be done there(preventing people from using it to farm endeavors, needing to redo the coding behind it to make it more efficient based on what devs have said on past livestreams)
• Unlikely to get something like a Legendary Cardassian Galor since legendary ships tend to have 3-4 variants to bundle together and things like the Galor don't
• Kael legitimately doesn't know if the ENT-F in Picard S3 is the STO Oddyssey class
• Unlikely that Cryptic would sell STL files directly for people to use for 3D item printing at home because it would involve making software to make those models into STL files, and then having some way for players to purchase them, and Kael isn't sure that would be worth the effort
• No plans to make the other two parts of a multi-vector ship directly controllable. Kael isn't sure how they would even do that
• Kael isn't sure why the Cali class isn't 3d printable, he will ask if its an oversight or a licensing issue(the response later in the stream was that it was a licensing issue)
• The FED/KDF team separation is hardcorded into the game, but there might be light at the end of that tunnel. Kael doesn't know how soon that might come, but he has more hope on it then he did a year ago
• There's less light at the end of the gender/species change tunnel since it hasn't been looked into as much as Kael would like it to have been, but he will bang that drum again
• There is also light at the end of the tunnel for DSC Andorians
• The feature Kael cannot confirm or deny exists(elite BOFF tokens) have run into technical hurdles that have caused it to be pushed back twice
• The unannounced feature is not why BOFF traits got messed up recently, that was just a random issue that cropped up
• Elite captain tokens work out differently economically compared to ship upgrade tokens since people tend to have many more ships then they do captains(Kael was asked about getting elite captain tokens from RA missions)
• Kael would really like STO to do the Gorn next due to their appearance in SNW, but hes not sure if they can because of their prominent role in SNW, and not wanting to start a Gorn story next year only for SNW to come out with something that completely contradicted STO
• Kael believes the all clear has been given on Hearts and Minds showing up again for Halloween/Friday the 13th
• Buying mission rewards for dil wouldn't be a good dil sink since it isn't repeatable
• Cosmetic weapon slots not likely to happen any time soon for the previously stated reasons
