Final word on this:

Multi-ship is a go, but we won't have any leveling aspects. this is just another way to have members partake in the project.
Ares itself will Wrap the interlude end of October. I'll push it to November 15th if needed.

OK, out of the 4 goals we set out to give Ares a boost, we've done three of these pretty much.

• Ares Soft Reset - We are en route to Season 2, Chapter 1 - boss has this in the works!
• Ares Ship RP - Launched this weekend!
• Forum Cleanup - Done over the last month or so.
• Forward Planning - Still need to put together some mission plans for Ares, and I will try to do this for TF Phoenix as well. Also plan to help do mission summaries throughout Ares.

The key theme for Season 2 is Exploration, plain & simple. I intend to end it on a big ol' swerve, with the Taskforce being HEAVILY involved in a......rescue/recovery mission.

Gonna keep me trap shut about it. LOL

Hey there, I wanted to submit for your approval a possible method for awards for our Roleplaying Characters within ARES. These awards would only be shown on the bios of the player characters themselves. These awards would only be visible via the bio's or on a post within Ares showing the awards of player characters. These awards would be of no conflict with official awards given to members of UFP.

These awards would be given from the ARES CO possibly after missions are completed from players. Let me know if this is acceptable or if there needs to be changes, or this is unacceptable. I would of course ask one of our graphics artist to create a better rendering if allowed to proceed.

ARES ROLEPLAY AWARD MEDALS

This Medal is awarded to the Officer who saves another officer's life during service

This prestigious Award is given to the Officer who is wounded in battle. The wound can even be fatal in which case the officer is awarded post mortem

Awarded on successful Capture of an alive Enemy

Awarded to Officer for performing their tasks above the call of duty

Awarded to the Officer who faces certain death and still performs outstanding

Awarded to the Officer who faces insurmountable odds but performs his duties to the very best of his/her ability

The Officer who receives this Award has demonstrated an Excellent degree of Professionalism while carrying out their Orders

Awarded to the Officer who performs surgery on several Officers within the line of duty and they return to perform with high marks

Awarded to the Officer who saves the life of another Officer or Civilian through Medicine within the Line of Duty

This Medal is only awarded to the select few Officers who successfully complete the impossible during the Line of Duty. An Officer who receives this Award is held with the deepest respect through all of Starfleet Command, and has their own personal choice of what ship they receive commission upon. The Christopher Pike Medal of Honor.


Awarded to the Officer who has successfully completed 3 years of Commission, or has lived through 5 Successful Missions

Awarded to the Officer who successfully demonstrates exceptional Tactical Prowess in Ground Combat within the Line of Duty

In general, I’m not a fan of complicating TFP any more than it is, at this point yet.

But my main concern is doing awards outside of UFPs stuff. I don’t think we should extend those with our own, even if they are fairly different. We always avoided Sim awards back in the Nova/SMS days for the same reason.

I really like the idea but as maybe something that rewards participants for their dedication, good storytelling, additions/ideas for Ares and not what their characters do. Though like Caymen said my idea does sound too much like UFPAC awards.

Thinking about it, maybe the conflict with UFPAC medals could be avoided by just displaying the medals on the crew roster pages? Not sure if they'd get in the way too much if there was just a fairly minimal post in the Ares forum any time someone was awarded (you'd probably have to do more at a time to avoid clutter, though) and the crew members could put up the medals on their bios at some point.

One question I did have about this idea: a lot of the medals seem to have to do with combat and battle. With the Federation being as it is, shouldn't we have a few more dedicated to exploration and perhaps diplomacy? (no objection if the canon medals are all about battle, of course)

Good question KingTernel, think of this idea as just a starting point as if the concept itself is accepted we can then add more different types of awards to the selection depending on the collective acceptance of everyone and ultimately the CO, and XO.

But again, helping further the game in Ares is what the UFP awards are for. We shouldn't (can't?) duplicate that.

We can do all the IC awards we want for our characters and ships, it's just not something we should put in our signatures or anything. I wouldn't want to formalize it myself, either.

Hence the suggestion to come up with an alternate reward thing. I was kind of bonking around the idea in my skull of having something like a player of the week or something.

I know you're right Cayman, but i also know that something like this could work inspiring and motivating.
