In honor of one of Starfleet’s most celebrated (and occasionally controversial) Captains, we are proud to present the next in a line of ship’s pulled from the 32nd Century – the Kirk-class Temporal Heavy Battlecruiser!
From October 13th at 8am PT to November 3rd at 10am PT, we are running a promotion that will provide an additional bonus when opening a Research and Development Pack.
When you purchase a Research and Development Pack from the C-Store and open it, you will receive either 10 Lobi Crystals or a Special Requisition Choice Pack - Tier 6 Promotional Ship Choice Pack in addition to the Research and Development Pack.
We are excited to announce a brand new addition to this impressive list of Tier-6 Starships that are included Promotional Ship Pack: Kirk-class Temporal Heavy Battlecruiser (T6)
Kirk Temporal Heavy Battlecruiser [T6]
While this class of starship was originally conceptualized to be a successor to the iconic and beloved Constitution-class, the rigors of the era in which it was built have necessitated rather distinct departures from its intended ancestor - not the least of which in terms of scale. Long-range, deep-space exploration and frontier support entail the need for increased crew capacity, additional systemic redundancies, and a suite of defensive capabilities robust enough to handle being a one-ship-fleet at the edges of the Federation. Additionally, this vessel has been outfitted with the latest in technologies useful for temporal analysis and manipulation. Although the use of this technology for actual time travel has been strictly forbidden in the time period from which this starship originates, there will always be a need to break such rules on occasion, if dictated by the needs of the many.
This starship features a Commander Engineering / Temporal Operative Specialist Bridge Officer seat and a Lt. Commander Universal / Command Specialist Bridge Officer seat.

Console - Universal – Field-Replicated Buster Pods
This specialized set of industrial replicator arrays are pre-programmed for maximum efficiency. When activated, they quickly create a series of devastating kinetic weapons nicknamed "Buster Pods." Each pod is outfitted with a miniaturized impulse drive capable of a single, quick burst of FTL travel before they burn out and fail catastrophically. On-board targeting suites provide the Buster Pod with rudimentary self-guidance protocols, allowing each one to choose an appropriate enemy target to aim at before activating its strategic failure. It will jump toward the designated target, dealing massive kinetic damage to each Foe it impacts along the way, then violently expire once reaching maximum combat distance, once more dealing kinetic damage to enemies in the range of the final detonation.
This console also provides a passive bonus to All Damage Resistance Rating that increases as remaining Shield Capacity depletes.
Starship Trait – Risk Is Our Business
Activating a Captain Ability will grant you a stacking amount of Temporary Hitpoints per Foe within 5km. Additionally, if "Threatening Stance" is active, this will also generate a large amount of Threat toward nearby foes, further encouraging them to attack your vessel.
In addition to this new startship, opening this Special Requisition Choice Pack - Tier 6 Promotional Ship Choice Pack will give the recipient a choice of any Tier 6 ship found in any previous Research & Development or Duty Officer Promotional Pack.
The player fortunate enough to win this ship pack will be presented with a choice of claiming a package containing this exciting new starship, or any one of the following ships:

This is the best looking 32nd century ship, IMHO, but I think that the general design of all of these 32nd century ships makes no sense...especially with the Kirk Class...a detached hull from the saucer! Now you have to transport from one to the other, just to get around the ship. The whole detached aesthetic makes no sense to me. The warp core is in the hull, right? Detaching the nacelles, on most of the ships, would not protect the ship in the case of another Burn. It just seems like something that someone thought would look cool...forgetting about whether or not it makes sense! Additionally, all of this detached nonsense would require so much energy use to maintain. It seems like such a waste! It doesn't seem smart. It seems flashy, meant to grab our short attention spans, while dulling our intellects. As long as it's action packed, modern audiences will allow it, it seems.
Old man qualifier...I mean no offense to anyone who enjoys the new Trek shows and movies. Most of you have spent most of your lives exposed to action-packed blockbusters. These flashy, fast-paced shows and movies are what you're use to. With that as your baseline, new Trek fits right in with expectations. It's a shame that the intelligence and creativity of past generations hasn't carried through to current day entertainment, IMHO.
The stats of the Kirk Class are meh as well. You would think that in a thousand years, ships would be significantly more advanced than they are, both in Discovery and in STO. It's like technology is basically maxed out...there is nothing else to invent. The most advanced thing is the spore drive...the one thousand year old spore drive...and only one ship has it...the one thousand year old Discovery! (Don't get me started on the existence of the spore drive in Star Trek!) All advancements in the 32nd century seem to be more style than substance.
Anyway,
I'm sorry for the rant, but the meh-ness of this ship may have touched a nerve.

Yeah I feel where you are coming from. The 32c ships feel like a mash-up between classic Star Trek ship designs and contemporary art sculptures. They are interesting eye candy, but seem extremely impractical from an engineering standpoint, particularly for a resource-starved civilization. Why increase power demands by using whatever energy field connects the ship components, plus increase the need for transporters to get around? Plus, how are power and other resources being transmitted across the voids between parts?

Remember guys, STO lore is that future ships get everything future like ripped from them and are given to us with current technology in them. Hence why they aren't overpowered to hell and back.

I think I already know the answer to this question, but I have some R&D packs already in my inventory. If I open them during the event can I win the ship or does it only count to packs PURCHACED during the event?

Remember guys, STO lore is that future ships get everything future like ripped from them and are given to us with current technology in them. Hence why they aren't overpowered to hell and back.
My comment applies to Discovery as well. The U.S.S. Discovery was able to take fire from the Federation fleet, without significant damage. Discovery is 1,000 years older, but it's also capable of traveling farther and faster than any other ship in the 32nd century! The future has programmable matter and detached ship parts, both of which, arguably, look cool, but is that the best that they've got 1,000 years in the future? Discovery was built roughly 230 years from now, and look at the amount of technological advancement from now to then! I would expect a little more almost a thousand years after that point!
As for STO, they don't jettison the future tech, because the ships are still detached, they come with future weapons, and in the case of the Kirk Class, it specifically has a 32nd century Federation Cloaking device.
These were the reasons for my previous statement.

I'm sorry for the rant, but the meh-ness of this ship may have touched a nerve.
I have pondered whether it is because the post-31st century hull materials are so dense that some starships have very large hull masses. Without the subspace field generated by programmable matter to encase the hull minus the apparent mass, it would take more energy for the pulse engines to propel the starship forward than it would without levitation on.
After all, DIS3 does mention that levitation of starships increases sublight manoeuvrability, so I wonder if this could be explained by a setting similar to the Driver Coil Assembly in the TNG Technical Manual.
Okay, I know it seems far-fetched, but it's the only explanation I can think of_(:з」∠)_
