    Featuring

USS Endurance, NCC-72809, Captain Th'rol (Quackers)

    Mission Summary

After a one-year exploratory mission in the far northern reaches of Federation space its commanding officer, Captain Worsley received a promotion for his long-standing service and his handling of a Breen raid on the marchland colony world of Maralt. Currently, the Endurance is docked at Starbase Sierra, receiving resupply, saying a tearful goodbye to their former captain and welcoming a fresh one with new orders to join Task Force Phoneix at Deep Space 9.

I have been in command of this vessel for just over 3 hours and I am still yet to sit in the chair.

While I've been kept busy meeting my senior staff and getting settled in I've still at least had a few moments, even if for what would have only been a minute or two to give it a spin...

The truth is I think I've been avoiding it. Ever since I've come aboard and started to get to know the crew it's felt like someone else's. The Endurance was built a few months after the Dominion War started, most of the crew was formed out of survivors of destroyed ships including its original commander; Captain Worsley.

From what I've read of his service record he was the second officer on board the Beagle when it was attacked by Jem'Hadar on convoy duty near the Neutral Zone. The strike left her dead in the water and with most of the bridge crew killed and engines knocked out but repairable. Worsely, the highest-ranking officer left, now in command of the ship, watched as the convoy was descended upon helplessly.

While other captains may have ordered abandon ship or a distress call Worsely ordered all efforts put into repairing the engines.

For 13 minutes he stubbornly put himself in between the Jem'Hadar and the convoy, absorbing as much fire as possible until the ship began to break apart and he was forced to abandon ship.

By that time the Jem'Hadar had overstayed their welcome and a quick response group was en route, leaving them no time to finish off what was left of the crew, sitting helplessly in escape pods and shuttles.

For his actions, he was awarded the Star Cross and a promotion.

    ...

He has left me a very big pair of shoes to fill. For his actions then and since.

Worse yet I'm the newest senior officer the crew has had in over 2 years, many of them ranked up on this ship. These people have bonds and friendships forged in combat and time.

    *sigh*

I know a Steamrunner isn't a top of the line ship but I was expecting my first command to be a little more humble. Like a Miranda or California.

No... I should stick to the positives. I've got an experienced crew who I know I can count on... I just hope they can count on me?

OOC: Truth be told writing from the perspective of a character is not my strong suit but I want to improve. If I've made any mistakes or you have any advice I'd love to hear it.
