That one is actually my contribution to the confusion, for which I am sorry. I directed Zasz to the official STO roster on the website, expecting it to show the same info. Clearly I didn't check the STO game subforums, since I don't play STO regularly I seldom look into the game-specific forums.

No worries. Im not looking for blame, just clarification and hopefully improvements.

Im playing MMOs for so long and experienced alliances like this before but the idea of an alliance with a rather strong command structure with sub-groups that are just there, not really part of the whole thing, is just odd. Especially under this name. So Im still abit stuck on "why would you do that? This doesnt make any sense!". Im not someone who easily accepts "thats the way it is".

UFP is a Star Trek community of gamers first and foremost. We have thousands of members on this site, many of whom don't play STO even.

Within the STO game, we have 8 fleets which allow community members to have main characters and as man alts as they want in a variety of fleets depending on how they play. All of those UFP-owned fleets are controlled by the same command team and staff; those listed on this site as being the QMs, Personnel Officers and associated command staff.

Cryptic has also provided a means for fleets to group up themselves to create their own armadas; but retrain their own individual command structures/rules/memberships etc. This allows fleets to work together on rewards, projects etc; but still continues to be their own entities.
UFP is lucky and one of the few community groups with the resources and membership to allow us to have 8 fleets; but we still would have room in our armadas that need filling to fully take advantage of that system. So, like many other fleets, we open it up to other communities.
I don't think it's really that unusual a situation to be in for the armada to operate the way it does; be it with the lead fleet being a single entity, or one of multiples from a community group filling slots within the armadas like we do.

The armada system essentially operates the exact same way the fleet system does for players; each member is their own entity and does their own thing. If you are in a fleet nobody tells you how to play the game or how to build your ships; you are left to run things your way.
The same is true for armada fleets; those outside of direct UFP ownership are armada members but they are free to operate how they wish.

But still, an armada of 3k players and only 25 on FED/4 on KDF online at prime time... It would explain the lack of chat activity lately.

Im aware how fleets work. My concern is about the list of fleets vs. the list ingame. Like I said, the list here should reflect all thats been said here.

The list here does reflect in-game though.

UFP + UFP 2,3,4,5 Fed side are our fleets. (5th Fleet still needs to be added to the site listing as it's a new creation).
Houses of Kurland, Kular and Metak are ours on KDF side.

Anything else in any of the armadas are not our fleets but are merely armada members; in other words our friends in the fleet world we share resources with. It's the exact same for every other armada in the game
STO merely takes the guild system slightly further than other MMOs and lets guilds "team up" into and even larger organisation to work together. But it doesn't mean everything in an armada needs to belong to one fleet to function.

Chat activity in game can be variable depending when you are online. Friday and Saturday nights it's active with TFO runs being done. I think the entire game and indeed any MMO or game will have peak activity times and quieter times. That's no indication of problems with player numbers, chat systems, or community groups like fleets/guilds.

We have quiet times and busy times feel free to see our event list reports here from our weekly in-game event that we run for people to team up and run events with other members. STO is unlike many other MMOs it has a large focus on single-player content with teaming being done more so in end game content.

Our setup has never had caused an issue of misunderstanding before so the way it is set up is fine. As I have said you are free to move toons to other fleets in-game or armada to see how they differ to us some will be busier others quieter again such is the nature of STO. Other fleets in STO operate differently some have limitations on members based on various factors they can be that you can not use fleet holdings till you have donated to a certain amount or a variety of other factors.

In UFP we have a 2-week probationary period and a quarterly roll call these are our only stipulations for membership, so long as you sign roll call every 3 months and complete this you have access to everything

If you are looking for increased chat you can join other in-game chats while being a member of UFPlanets chat you have places like Reddit Chat can be busy but not organised, if you join DPS runs and get yourself invited to the DPS channels they can also increase game chatter for you if this is what you are after when in game.

I think you seem to misunderstand. In taking a toon and going to look at other fleets either in the UFP Armada or away from can give you an insight to how others are and how we do it, the best thing in doing this is if you have multiple toons as you have stated you can keep all others in UFP. My comments are not to tell you to get lost but to say go compare. Having been in a few fleets myself in a similar way has allowed me to appreciate the way UFP do things. This thread has highlighted that we do have certain section s that need updating and as Jordan states these will be addressed in due time.
