For the last few days now, Cryptic have been doing a countdown on twitter which contains a message in the ROT13 cypher. Today is day 5 and the message so far reads: "Maybe the biggest news in...." - there are also hidden shots of STO ships, I think the Gagarin, Ross and Sutherland have been seen so far.

This has lead to 3 main thoughts of speculation:

1 - They're teasing a new ship to tie in with Picard;
2 - That they've managed to get Sir Patrick to do a voice role in STO;
3 - That some of the STO ships are going to appear in Picard and thus become canon.

There's some weight to the third one as supposedly Thomas Marrone and Hector Ortiz are credited in Season 2, though I've not seen their names on the list that was posted publicly.

We know that there are models of the Nova and Steamrunner in Picard it could be that they have taken the models from STO.

2 - That they've managed to get Sir Patrick to do a voice role in STO

Obviously, outta the three listed potentials, this one would be the most exciting one for me to actually get him in to do a voice over. I would have said a while back it is not possible but now since we have Mulgrew in-game and she was another I never thought we would see or hear in-game at all I remain optimistic it could actually happen.

I think having STO ships in the show would be a nice little touch to canonize STO; or at least a version of the timeline if Q is involved with time travel.

There's bound to be new ships from Picard and S4 DSC so that's nothing really all that unexpected or exciting....it'll be more gamble box fluff most likely.

Wouldn't it be plausible to try and get people like Sir Patrick or even Shatner in the game sooner rather than later? They're getting up there in age and likely might not be in the business for very long. I'd hate to think money to them is still a factor when they're up there in age. But who knows and I'm just hoping perhaps they'd do it for the franchise versus money.

Wouldn't it be plausible to try and get people like Sir Patrick or even Shatner in the game sooner rather than later? They're getting up there in age and likely might not be in the business for very long. I'd hate to think money to them is still a factor when they're up there in age. But who knows and I'm just hoping perhaps they'd do it for the franchise versus money.

Maybe yes he is however getting also a lot of money ($750,000 per episode) to do Picard. He is an actor and want to get paid when he does something and he is for sure not cheap.

Unpopular opinion I know, but I hope they don't get Shatner. He's always been disrespectful to his fans, his colleagues, the Star Trek community, and generally whoever he feels like. I also don't see what he would add to the game. His character is dead, and all the episodes where he could appear are already written to explain his absence. All bringing him in would do would give his overinflated ego another undeserved boost.

Maybe it is Stewart, Paramount could foot some of the bill for promotional purposes since the new season of Picard is starting soon.

The other quirk with this that I've seen mentioned is that Dave Blass, a production designer for ST: Picard tweeted a thank you tweet to the people collaborating to produce season 2 yesterday. Among the names listed in Dave's tweets were Hector Ortiz and Thomas Marrone from the ship art team of Cryptic Studios. Given the countdown seems tied to Picard's season 2 first episode drop, there seems to be a good chance there is some sort of cross-collaboration that happened that might tie in between STO and Picard. Maybe it is a new ship, bundle, or maybe they did land a voiceover from Patrick Steward (or another cast member from the new show). It could also be the reverse and we'll see more STO stuff canonized by appearing in the show. Or maybe we'll see a simultaneous release of stuff both in show and in game. Disco has already made a few nods to STO creations this season, so it might be the case that we'll see more of that continue with Picard now.

Well there is always Avery Brooks and Scott Bakula for the other two Captain's they haven't grabbed yet. That is if Shatner wouldn't do it because Cryptic messed that up and if Sir Patrick is too pricey... >.> ... that is if they're gonna follow a trend having Kate Mulgrew.

We got Jeri Ryan, Kate Mulgrew, the actors that play Tilly and the annoying guy from the spore quest. (I don't follow DSC, sue me.) I bet if we get that JJ Trek 4, we end up with Zack Quinto (I call him Zack) or Chris Pine or Simon Pegg or John Cho in the new content.
