This thread is for the pre and post discussion of the third episode "Assimilation" - this will be a spoiler filled discussion so if you've found your way past the warnings in the activity stream and the spoiler tag on the thread, this is your last chance to turn back, or at least it will be at the end of this first post. You have been warned!
Leaving the corrupted timeline behind, the crew travel back to LA in 2024 to seek out the identity of "The Watcher" to help them find when, where and how the timeline diverged. As they venture out into a world 400 years removed from their own, Picard attempts to gain information from an unlikely but dangerous ally.
You can find a preview of the episode details here. The trailer may not work depending on your region. Rather fittingly given the episode deals with heading back in time, you'll notice the director is Lea Thompson, who is of course best known for her role as Lorraine McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy.
Assimilation is episode 3 of 10.

Some interesting but in this episode.
Nice to see some old favourites in the Confederation fleet even if they did get blown up pretty fast!
The Borg Queen is really well done I think. She’s equal parts victim and creepy at the same time, especially when she starts crawling around on the floor using her arms!
Kinda nifty that a cyber-mind meld goes both ways just like the Vulcan equivalent, the Queen never expected that to happen.
The parts on the ground were a bit lacklustre and really just setting up some potential side plots.
Raffi is really rather unhinged I think; the way she just goes completely crazy when Elnor “dies”. Also no way he’s staying dead like that; was a very boring way to go for such a mainline character.
Any guesses on who The Watcher is? My money would be on Guinan as we know she’s been on Earth in the past so it would make sense for her to be around still.

I can't speculate on who the watcher might be but those guys with the whited out eyes could be the watcher if they have an ability to control others or see through them perhaps. anyway looking forward to the next one!
