Thank all of you for the encouragement, assistance, and advice everyone has so freely offered. There's a wealth of experience here and everyone has been so helpful with trying to get a coherent whole from it. I'm slowly absorbing game mechanics, tactics, getting experience just being in various events and such, someday I'll know to turn left after the first cube 
The episodic "mini quest chains" make trying to absorb the overall story line a little confusing, like I go thru, slug it out, make peace with a faction in one line, and the next line they toss me, not only am I still at war with that faction, but they just blew up an important planet... makes it puzzling to get a picture of what's happening overall. Time is essentially regarded as though it were just another spatial dimension, go here, go there. I'm not as well versed in canon lore as I thought, so that's a learning process as well. Time will tell.
