The current run of the Infinity Lock Box will soon be updated with the addition of an all-new Starship!

Starting on April 5th, 2022, players on PC will have the chance to obtain and captain the Merian Command Science Dreadnought (T6). This rescue and support vessel serves an important role in the events that unfold in Season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery, and will soon be available in Star Trek Online for captains to add to their fleets.

The United Federation of Planets is never going separate itself from its need for starships that are specialized in rescue and relief missions, and the Merian-class was well-known for serving this role with distinction even during the dark times following The Burn. Its specialized systems are focused on being a bulwark against harmful elements, be they enemy vessel, or naturally-occurring stellar phenomena, to provide protection and support for those most in need.

Console – Universal – Reactive Radiometric Shielding

This ingenious shielding provides multiple functionalities. In addition to providing peerless immunity to all forms of harmful Radiation, it also boosts Damage Resistance to all other forms of Energy Damage by a respectable amount.

Incoming Energy Damage will also be converted into a 5km Radius pulse that deals Radiation Damage to Foes, and Restores Hull to Allies, based on the amount of incoming damage that triggered the pulse and was Resisted (prevented) by this shielding and any other forms of Damage Resistance your ship may have.

The pulse has its limits. Healing it provides cannot exceed a value of 5,000 per pulse, and the Radiation Damage dealt to foes cannot exceed 10,000 per pulse. The field will not generate a pulse from Damage-over-Time effects, or incoming damage below a certain threshold.

This console also provides a passive bonus to Radiation Damage, Radiation Damage Resistance Rating, and Hull Regeneration.

This console mod may be used on any starship, in any console slot. Only one of these consoles may be equipped on a ship at a time.

For 20 sec:

Immunity to Radiation Damage
+200 Energy Damage Resistance Rating
Once per 0.5 sec, when receiving Energy Damage:
Restore Hull to Self and Allies equal to the amount of Energy Damage Resisted
Deal Radiation Damage to Foes equal to twice (2x) the amount of Energy Damage Resisted
5.0km Radius, Max 5 Foes + 5 Allies each pulse


Starship Trait – Scientific Bulwark

Activating any Bridge Officer Ability which increases Damage Resistance Rating will also provide a boost to your Control Expertise, Drain Expertise, and Exotic Particle Generator skills. This bonus lasts 15 seconds, and may be stacked up to 5 times.

These fighter pets are unlocked in their stores listed below as long as you own this ship. Once unlocked, there are no equip restrictions, and may be used on any ship that has a hangar bay.

The damage and healing dealt by their Special Ability will improve with Advanced and Elite rank versions of these Hangar Pets

From a tanking perspective, it would be nice to experiment with the trait and the console.

But it's a gambling box ship. And I don't like the design. So it's a pass for me.

Not really terribly interesting to look at. The trait looks like it could be useful but not much else sticks out for me. We've already got a bajillion ships with command seating in better places than this; you'd have to sacrifice sci abilities or engineering.

Agreed.. I don't know why, but I loathe the "separated" sections design. Maybe I'm just old, but it looks absolutely silly.

Kind of lackluster visual design. Has a very utilitarian feel (which is common in some sci-fi franchises but usually not Trek) with the odd 32c floaty nacelle idea that still just seems terribly impractical. Outside of that though, there just aren't a lot of features to draw the eye.

The console and trait are kind of interesting sci tanking options, but sci tanking isn't all that common. I expect most people who grab this thing will either go for it for space barbie or maybe see how it handles as a torp boat since it has 2 Command seats plus some options to supplement with some space magic since it has a secondary deflector.

Not a huge fan of the separated pieces either, but I do love science and hangars...ship has decent stats. So not sure...maybe will look into it some day if I have a extra billion or so credits laying around
