When one of Pike’s officers goes missing while on a secret mission for Starfleet, Pike has to come out of self-imposed exile. He must navigate how to rescue his officer, while struggling with what to do with the vision of the future he’s been given.

Strange New Worlds is the latest entry of the Star Trek Franchise, set aboard the USS Enterprise in the years before Kirk took command and the series largely came about in response to fan demand based on the initial appearance of the 3 main characters in Discovery series 2, especially that of Pike. SNW stars Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Una/Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock, Babs Olusanmokun as Doctor M'Benga, Christina Chong as La'an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, Jess Bush as Christine Chapel & Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas

So turns out that one of the theories I had from the trailer was correct...

EDIT: Half an hour in, and those characters are already a ton more fun than DSC's cast was throughout Season 1.

I enjoyed watching it as soon as it released on stream, I noticed a fun amount of Easter eggs and look forward to the next episode.

I absolutely loved it. Ship-porn, good visual updates of a show from 1966, a fairly standard Trek plot, but well executed.

Then, frankly, I'm confused what the issue is?

Pon Farr was never "once every seven years" either, as DC Fontana herself states:

"Vulcans mate normally any time they want to. However, every seven years you do the ritual, the ceremony, the whole thing. The biological urge. You must, but any other time is any other emotion – humanoid emotion – when you're in love. When you want to, you know when the urge is there, you do it. This every-seven-years business was taken too literally by too many people who don't stop and understand. We didn't mean it only every seven years. I mean, every seven years would be a little bad, and it would not explain the Vulcans of many different ages which are not seven years apart."

It's about T'pring and Spock their marraige was arranged when both were seven engaging to each other and they med when Spock had his Pon Far on Vulcan with Spock to get married however with T'pring proposal breaks the TOS Canon but that is what I expected from those people.

Okay, so where in Amok time does it say that that was the first time they met? This was only implied, not outright stated as far as I can recall. I looked at an episode transcript and at the episode itself, and it says nowhere that that is the first time they met ever, only that Spock had been away from Vulcan for a while.

And frankly, technically, they're not actually married yet. The lines are:

MCCOY: I wonder when his T'Pring arrives.
SPOCK: The marriage party approaches. I hear them.
KIRK: Marriage party? You said T'Pring was your wife.
SPOCK: By our parents' arrangement. A ceremony while we were but seven years of age. Less than a marriage but more than a betrothal. One touches the other in order to feel each other's thoughts. In this way our minds were locked together, so that at the proper time, we would both be drawn to Koon-ut-kal-if-fee.


For all we know, she just felt that asking was required, as she's smart enough to know that he'll be drawn back to Starfleet. I don't see the retcon here. We just can't imo apply our standards and methods.

It's not about them meeting for the first time, it is about the proposal.
