Thought I'd weigh in as the Star Trek of our youth is definitely not the same as the Star Trek of "today".
I've watched the first couple of seasons of Discovery, and the critiques I've read in this thread so far match what I've felt of the series. It was the Burnham show with some Star Trek in there, but not enough to capture what I feel like Star Trek always was. Once they (Discovery and crew) found themselves in the future, I just didn't feel like continuing to watch the series at all.
I have watched Prodigy entirely, mostly hoping to have it as another series that I can watch with my kids (currently watching through TNG with them). But I just didn't care for the lack of personal responsibility some of the characters had and just didn't feel appropriate for my kids. Maybe it'll get better, though, but so far not high on my list.
I've not watched Picard mostly because of some the critique I've read here and been given by others that I respect their opinion: Picard isn't the Picard we grew up with on TNG, and has lost everything that makes him Picard. No thanks (in my opinion).
I've not watched Strange New Worlds yet as I just haven't had time, but am really looking forward to viewing that series when I do get a chance.
And then there's Lower Decks. Here's a series that still feels like Star Trek while not taking themselves serious, which I found I really enjoyed! There are TONS of Star Trek nostalgia and jokes of all the different previous series (for older trek-fans like myself), and they really hit their stride in the second season (the first isn't bad, but the second is great!). Of the new Star Trek series I've watched, Lower Decks is my favorite so far! Not something I'd show my kids for sure, but funny and enjoyable for me to watch!

I like Lower Decks it's refreshing for me and i enjoy the humour somewhat although i can agree that it can seemed forced in places and it's like in some scenes they have shoe-horned that in, in other instances it's really funny so hit and miss on the comedy side at times, perhaps they need to look at the writers... As for Picard well he is by far my absolute favourite Captain of all the Star treks(Kirk aside as he is a legend and that goes without saying) but i don't know i cannot engage(no pun intended heh) with the series or in many ways the Jean Luc as portrayed in the series it's just weird and it's not for me. I have yet to watch SNW but i am looking forward to seeing it, looks amazing.
