That said, there's no real world money on the line, at least not recently. I was cleaning out old, unused toons and found those keys there, and the rest is what I manged to get via mass-selling ingame loot. :/

Oh, no real money involved? Doesn't matter then... other that my first post. That still stands. You literally will fly every new ship in the same ol thang.

Several aspects you have pointed out might not be totally incorrect, but I wouldn't go that far to say that the whole game is "trash". Yeah, there could be more content here and there, agreed. However, there are still many people out there having fun with STO as it is (I am one of those). Therefore I wouldn't use such a hard judgement to be honest - also with respect for some of our new members who have just begun playing the game.

Your opinion, my opinion... I hope you still like me nontheless, mate!

Mentioned User Trekchu, I agree with Heyallo. If you really want to have the Cerritos and can afford it, go and get it. Why not?

Only you can answer this one at the end of the day, as it ultimately comes down to how you enjoy the game. You have to decide for yourself if the value of flying the ship is worth the cost, and worth more to you than other things you might buy with that pile of EC instead. Another thing to keep in mind is that exchange prices are always in flux for this kind of stuff, so by the time you unload all this sellable loot, the price might be even higher. Or lower.

The Cali-class isn't going to break any DPS records, but at the end of the day any T5 or T6 ship can be built to handle any content in the game so the DPS chase only has as much or as little meaning to the game as you choose to give it and we're always one patch away from throwing today's "meta" out the airlock. If you like flying 4/4 cruisers and really love Lower Decks and really want to immerse yourself in a captain themed around that show in your personal headcanon, then by all means go for it. If there is something else you might want to spend that EC on now or in the near future instead, maybe make a list of what all you might chase, then evaluate or just sleep on which path makes the most sense for your goals to have fun in the game. The game is what you personally choose to make of it at the end of the day, so acknowledge what other people say (both good and bad) and do with it what you will, but ultimately don't let others dictate how you want to enjoy things.

Sadly gotta agree with Mack on this one.
The game is in a pretty crap place these days so I’d certainly not send any cash on it.

If you like the ship and it costs you nothing then go for it. At the end of the day it’s just some pixels on a screen. But bare in mind there’s little to use it for besides the same content we’ve been playing for what seems like a million years.

Thanks. I decided to go for it, because as it turns out, it doesn't even take all of my credits, as on an old toon I found 74 million sitting in the personal bank, so... we're good. I don't know how far I'm taking the larp as I don't have enough Lobi Crystals for it, but we'll see.

I fly an Excelsior class. Exclusively. And I own every variant of it except for the one in that mega-bundle that cost up to $200 US dollars (because I really have a limit for pixilated entertainment).

If you want it, then go for it. Especially exchanging in-game currency for an in-game item.
