I currently am flying a Fleet Defiant Tactical Escort and am considering moving to a Terran Adamant Heavy Raider.

What are the pros and cons of making that move?

I'm currently running a cannon build with CRF (not a CSV fan). Curious about being able to add a surgical strike in place of my CRF3, so the intelligence boff seat is tempting. But I see it's a 5 front 1 rear weapon setup, which I could probably make the switch over to easy enough. I'm running all cannons currently on the front and have a 5th I can slot in there to keep that effect. Just not sure about what I'm losing by not having turrets in the back.

Side note: is there a common build site being used these days to show what I have currently for my ship build? I used to put mine in stoacademy, but I can't remember my password and the login is a bit busted.

Side note 2: is the Legendary Defiant Pilot Warship an option in the campaign Premium T6 Ship Choice box? I'd much prefer that if I could get it, but refuse to spend the money for it when it pops up in the bundle.

If I remember correctly you can get Legendary ships only from their respective packs. So you'll have to w´fork over cash for the Legendary Defiant.

That being said, it's my main ship and it's - in my opinion - the best version of the Defiant you can get. Pilot maneuvers are a game-changer, especially when you're a bad pilot like I am. I use CSV as a main firing mode though, it's just way easier and cheaper to build and if I remember correctly does more damage than CRF too.

I'm pretty sure Mentioned User Bridger can confirm or disprove that and give more details, he's a build wizard and also flies a Defiant (or at least did so in the past.

Yes you can only get them from the packs and they are not sold separately so it's a full-pack purchase

As for the damage difference between CRF and CSV been some time since I ran test on anything so that one will be a bridge comment on the difference in the current meta

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to show here in the forum what I have for my setup to everyone. Like some of the other build threads have.

I realize the appeal of CSV, but I am not a fan of the fighting style with trying to line up multiple ships in a cone to get the most out of it. CRF has the appeal of singling in on one target and also looks close to a canon effect. Which is more what I want in my playstyle. I'm looking to obliterate a single target and be able to turn as easily as possible to keep the front end on that target. Without flying by them in the process, which is what I keep piloting skills around for, but try not to rely on them solely.

I have my current ship designed similar to the older build of Bridger's that was linked. I don't use the same boff stations as I am not using the A2B setup on my escorts. Interested in the effectiveness, so it's something I could look into.

The Adamant would probably be better here. Trading some turrets for another dual heavy cannon should be a gain, and the Adamant is a raider, so you also get an extra innate damage bonus if you hit your target's rear arc. As long as you can fly it well enough, it should post better results.

As for the CRF vs SS3 bit, SS3 is generally the better single target mode performance wise, but visually it isn't as impressive. The other thing to be mindful of is that SS3 gives a big crit chance buff, so you may need to see if your effective crit rate is exceeding 100%. If so, you might need to change up gear like swapping 1 or more locators for exploiters here. Unfortunately any crit chance over 100% is a waste, as it provides no overflow bonuses.

I may have already answered my own question with a bit of testing.

I decided to make use of the piloting skills and put in a pilot team I and II to help with turning and keeping the nose in front of my target. I also went for the attack pattern Lambda III to boost my accuracy levels. Bit of a spillover so I get a small bonus to CritC and CritH.

Although the ability to have a 5th cannon would be nice, I think the maneuverability of the piloting skills is more to my liking. It's not a legendary ship, but it's as close as I'll get with the playstyle I want.

I did get rid of the red matter capacitor in favor of reactive armor catalysts when I need the extra hull heal, too.

Had a play with my old one these the other day

Not put the build-up yet but with my rusty and I do mean rusty flying and dodgy mouse as my middle click not working right I managed 110k in a pug ISE set the ship up as yours is should get better in other runs the only thing that may differ is the traits you have but gives you and idea oh and i have not Upgraded to X
