Borg Adapting to Tommy Gun Issue

Hey everyone,

So I know I'm not the only one to notice that the Borg now adapt to the Replica Thompson Machine Gun and that even if you try to do a remodulation on it () they remain 'Immune' rather than it saying 'Adapted'. So I raised a bug report and go this back:

The issue has been reported to the developers, and they said that it is working as designed.

So, the developers have made it so that the Borg now become immune to Kinetic damage, thus forcing you to use their new energy weapon remodulation. Presumably as a way to force players to stop using them as 'quick easy' ways to defeat the Borg. Either way, this is not getting addressed, so you might as well bin your Tommy Gun.

Well, I guess that's one way to solve the issue of the one from the Picard bundle not unlocking account wide, make it useless against the one enemy it was perfectly suited for!

Currently only TR-116 Rifle don‘t adapt, because the rifle deals kinetic damage and not physical like the tommy or shoot gun.

Plus side this rifle comes from the R&D, so you can get it very easy.

However the DPS output of the TR-116 is small so it is better to remodulate and let kit abilities do the kills in the mean time.

You're absolutely right and I agree with you.
My post was from the technical not from the DPS standpoint.

I have to admit I noticed this during the new feature episode. Once I binned off the Tommy gun and used my Disco Assault rifle, I was melting the Borg faster. During remodulation I just used abilities and never had any issues.

Perhaps they've now realised no one else is buying the expensive pack to get the Tommy Gun anymore so now that it's not a cash-cow, just nerf it into redundancy.

Maybe they should try disengaging the safety protocols?

Real talk though, that sucks, it makes no sense from a canon standpoint. We saw Picard terminate the Drone formerly known as Ensign Lynch on the Holodeck with the same gun. Unless I'm missing something there's no way for a drone to adapt to a 400-year-old projectile weapon.

But it's not my game, I didn't get the Tommy Gun on PC (had it on console), and I guess I'll just have to hold out for their version of the IMOD.

Even that's not a sure bet - I mentioned this elsewhere but it looks like it's simply harder for the Borg to adapt to the STO version of the IMOD, it doesn't nullify that advantage like the Elite Force version did.

well they'd not want it like that, would defeat the purpose of their new modulator thingy that you have to buy/craft/etc

I've been using the Thompson on Defera for the last two days without noticing any adaptation. Maybe the Defera Borg didn't get the upgrades (non-supported Windows version?).

It could be that the adaption to the Tommy Gun is a feature of the Mirror Borg.

I caught a stream by our own Mentioned User Kyuusaku the other night which featured an interview with Dr. Erin Macdonald, featured in the new episode. Cryptic devs like Thomas, Tumerboy, and several others were hanging out in the chat as well, and seemed very much to imply that the Tommy Gun and similar ranged physical damage (not kinetic like the TR-116B) not being eligible for remodulation is indeed the intention. Basically since there is no energy type involved, there is no frequency to change. Kind of odd that they didn't include kinetic too, but kit modules seem to be much more effective anyway, and with the changes to slowing the time to adapt to energy, just using regular energy weapons seems to be more efficient and effective anyway.

could be. I don't have his gun so remodulation has always been a thing with me. but then again, i use my kit heavily so i barely use my weapon in ground missions. Wonder if anyone has done a normal non Mirror borg mission and see if the older borg adapt.
