I am not a fan of the TNG look, I much more prefer the FC look but it is a much needed improvement.

Well, at least after nearly 14 years they look less like half rotted cyber-zombies and more like something you'd see in TNG or VOY. Even then, you saw a lot more variety between drones before, whereas these drones look more cookie-cutter. I think it is in general an improvement, but it still doesn't capture the same vibes as in the shows. Not sure if it is the aesthetics, or just the fact that in STO the Borg are generally lightweights instead of existential threats.
