Trial of Transfer (First Duty #1)

Hey folks!

Not sure if anyone here still likes reading fanfics, but I've been working on a novella over at Ad Astra. It takes place in the Lost Era (2293 - 2364) of Star Trek. Here's the summary:

Seasoned and unconventional Starfleet officer Lieutenant Commander Leo Verde arrives as a disgraced transfer to Starbase Eight, the bustling hub in orbit of Memory Alpha. Previously a line officer serving on starships, he is reassigned to the local office of the Judge Advocate General, falling back on his law degrees. There, Leo finds himself embroiled in a web of injustice as he investigates the arrest of a marine corporal. His investigation propels him into a labyrinth of politics and power dynamics, placing him and his fledgling team of lawyers and paralegals at the heart of a high-stakes legal battle that will test their principles and resolve.

You might think of this as "A Few Good Men meets Star Trek" or perhaps my take on the old TV show, "JAG" from the 90s and 2000s. I haven't forgotten about this, but I'm doing a bit of an overhaul of the story based on some feedback. I'm about 3k words away from finishing off the whole thing.

The first draft is completed. A hair over 30k words, too. I'm having someone sanity check the story for me, because I wrote it backwards when I ran into a wall.

Chapter 11 has now been posted! I know a couple of you from UFP have dropped likes on the story, which I greatly appreciate. The final chapter posts tomorrow and Ad Astra has an option to download versions compatible with almost every ereader, in case you want/need that format to read the story.

Additionally, I'm trying to find out if it's possible to have a audiobook version produced. It's tricky with fanfics, so we'll see what happens, but I'm optimistic.

Excited for tomorrow's final chapter, since there's a BIG reveal that my beta readers enjoyed, so I hope you all love it as well.
