    "The Clash - Part I"

The year is 2371, and by orders of Starfleet Command, the USS Galaxy has been sent out to survey the Ul-Kimari Expanse, an area of space infamous for housing what used to be one of the most powerful civilizations in all history, a civilization which died out centuries ago for reasons unknown. After the ship's launch from Earth Spacedock, normal day-to-day functions resume. The Chief Science Officer is preparing for the survey in one of the science labs, Sickbay is performing physical examinations, Captain Kennedy is catching up with his Chief Engineer, and old friend, Jordan Bates, and 10-Forward is hopping with activity.

Unfortunately such a lax time period is rudely interrupted when a Romulan Warbird and Harkonian Science Ship is detected on long range sensors, near the Ul-Kimari Expanse. Both parties have an altercation over subspace on what was only described as an ancient weapon. After speaking with the Senior Staff, Captain Kennedy decides to find this weapon, in order to prevent either party from exploiting its use.

Back on the bridge, the Chief of Security picks up, on sensors, the debris of the Harkonian Science ship, which the Galaxy had encountered moments before. After a brief sensor analysis it is determined that the ship was destroyed by the Romulan Warbird. Momentarily thereafter the Chief Science Officer projects were the ships were heading to, however before the Galaxy can even go there, the Romulans uncloak, power up their disrupters, and disable the Galaxy's Warp and Impulse Engines. To be continued next week...

    Episode Two

    "The Clash - Part II"

With the USS Galaxy's engines disabled, Lieutenant Commander Jordan Bates is working a double shift, with the intention of getting the ship up and running as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, Captain Richard Kennedy speaks with Admiral Willow over a subspace channel. The Admiral informs Kennedy that under no circumstances should he allow the 'ancient weapon' to fall into foreign hands, he also asks Kennedy to bring the weapon back for further research. Moments thereafter the Captain makes his way to the archeology labs on the ship, upon speaking with the Chief Archeologist, he finds out much about the ancients and their once great influence in the area, he is even warned about how powerful this weapon could be, if it is infact intact.

Upon leaving the lab, the ship's engines are restored and the Galaxy resumes her original course to the Romulan's intended destination. As the Galaxy drops out of warp, they find an old Klingon B'rel Bird of Prey in orbit. After speaking with Captain Kennedy, the Klingons decide to land their ship on the planet's surface. Moments after Captain Kennedy sends Commander Bartlet to lead an away team to the surface.

When the away team beams down to the planet, they find themselves meeting both Klingon and Romulan scout teams. After what seemed like a cold confrontation between the three teams, they go off looking for the so called 'weapon'. The Klingons, as foolish as they are, believe they find the weapon first, however it is merely a rock face giving off high levels of energy. The real weapon is discovered in a state of free energy, by the Federation and Romulan survey teams, at almost the same time.

Lieutenant Varani concludes that the weapon is powerful enough to destroy an entire planet's atmosphere. While giving her explanation, the Romulans manage to extract its energy into a container, which is then stolen by one of the Klingons who charges at it and beams away. Furiously, the Romluans storm out of the cave, and the Galaxy's away team follows behind. As the Bird of Prey makes its way out of the planet, Sub-Commander T'Manada, the senior ranking Romulan in the area, orders that the ship be shot down. As the ship was carrying the weapon, the planet's atmosphere begins to fall apart. Unfortunately, due to the interference, the transporter chief must wait for the right moment to beam the team onboard. Shortly thereafter both the Romulans and Federation teams beam to their respective ships and depart the system.

Back on the Galaxy, Captain Kennedy informs Admiral Willow about the situation, and tells him that the weapon is gone. The Admiral expresses disappointment, and Kennedy makes the mistake of stating that such a weapon would be immoral to use against anyone, a comment to which the Admiral erupts with anger at. Admiral Willow concludes by stating that the Dominion threat is greater than ever, and that millions of lives could be at stake. The transmission concludes.. and Captain Kennedy resumes to Starbase 74 for repairs.

    Episode Three

    "Contamination"

After undergoing repairs at Deep Space 11, the USS Galaxy heads off to Starbase 47 to receive a special sensor upgrade. While on their way to Starbase 47, the Galaxy agrees to transport science personnel and equipment to the USS Salem, which was on a deep space assignment about halfway between the two stations. Commanding the USS Salem is Captain Michael Primmin, father of George Primmin, the Galaxy's Chief of Security.

While at warp, Captain Kennedy and Lieutenant Commander Jordan Bates have dinner together in the captain's quarters. Unfortunately, the captain is called away by Commander Bartlet, after the Galaxy receives a distress call from the Salem urging all ships to stay away from the area. Concerned with the Salem's well being, Captain Kennedy orders Ensign Drake to increase to warp factor nine.

About an hour later the USS Galaxy arrives to find the Salem without life support and power. Initial scans pick up no life signs, and in an attempt to get answers and restore power, Captain Kennedy orders Commander Bartlet to lead an investigation and repair team.

Wearing Hazard Suits, the two away teams beam over to the Salem. Immediately thereafter, Commander Bartlet orders Commander Bates to get primary power online, which prompts the Chief to lead his team down to engineering.

Commander Bartlet's team eventually uncovers a PADD in the transporter room stating that the Bridge is asking for power to be diverted from the Transporter Rooms to life support, a chilling discovering reveals that the Transporter Chief violated these orders to try and save himself over the crew. The investigation team will eventually find PADDs like these all over the ship, and in the end the team concludes that the source of the problem originated in sickbay.

Before moving on to Sickbay, however, the away team makes their way to the bridge, lying dead, in front of his chair, is Captain Primmin. After taking a few moments to compose himself, Lieutenant Primmin moves on with his work.

Initial medical scans reveal that the crew died from hypoxia. However, after performing a detailed sensor analysis, the Chief Medical Officer finds out that a virus was the underlying cause. This virus' true power is revealed when Crewman Smith, an engineering technician, cracks her helmet in a fall. Almost immediately thereafter the airborne virus begins to subdue all higher brain functions. After an emergency transport back to sickbay, Crewman Smith is declared dead and the ship's sickbay is quarantined.

Fortunately, the virus did not transfer to the Galaxy, and after restoring power and concluding their investigation, the away teams return to the Galaxy. In the end, the Chief Medical and Commander explain to the captain that ship's air filtering system became glitched, due to the fact that the Salem's computer core was an experimental computer system they were testing out, sadly for them one of the computer's glitches was a fatal one.

In the end, Captain Kennedy informs Starfleet and orders a quarantine of the surrounding area, in an attempt to warn off any ships passing through. Thereafter the Galaxy resumes their course to Starbase 47.

    Episode Four

    "Internal Affairs"

Upon arriving at Starbase 47 for some experimental sensor upgrades, several members of the Galaxy's crew decide to beam over to the station for some off duty time. What they don't know is that Starfleet Internal Affairs has sent over one of their lead investigators, Commander Lynx Holden, to question some of the captains and crew members passing through the area.

After walking around the promenade, relaxing in the Officer's Lounge, and reviewing some of the new specs for the Galaxy's sensor upgrades, Captain Kennedy is confronted by Commander Holden, and is asked to report to a secure conference room in the station.

Once they arrive at this conference room, Commander Holden immediately starts questioning Captain Kennedy. At first the questions seem extremely easy and general. However, as Commander Holden moves from one question to the next, he ends up asking the Captain questions about the Dominion threat and what his opinions were. He also proceeded to ask him whether he ever questioned any of Starfleet Command's orders - to which Kennedy replied with a simple "no."

Shortly after IA finished questioning Kennedy, the Captain joins his Chief of Security for a drink at the Officer's Lounge. Primmin, who had just lost his father, was noticeably upset; and so the Captain proceeded to tell Primmin great stories of his father and how he had high regards for him. Unfortunately, such pleasantries are interrupted by Commander Holden, who asks Primmin to join him in the conference room across the hall.

Although the Captain maintained his cool, once IA moved on to Lieutenant Commander Primmin, things changed drastically. Primmin was becoming extremely agitated by the barrage of questions he was getting from a man who never identified himself or his purpose. After a brief verbal confrontation, Commander Holden ends up ending the session and asks Primmin to leave.

Back in the Officer's Lounge, the captain meets his new counsellor, and senior officer, for the first time. After exchanging a few words and answering each others' questions they part ways.

It's only a few minutes after their conversation that a distant explosion is heard in correlation with some light shaking. Shortly after the shaking stops, Starbase 47 goes to red alert. The captain immediately contacts the station's commander for a status report. The commander reports that an empty transport ship has purposely rammed itself within the station's inner compartment. The commander continues his report by stating that the ship coincidentally rammed itself into Commander Holden's quarters and office area.

Fortunately, the commander was not in the area during the time of the attack, and goes to the station's command center with Captain Kennedy just minutes after. While in the station commander's office, Commander Holden receives a priority message from Starfleet Command. Starfleet reports that the head of Internal Affairs was just assassinated with a long distance sniper rifle. Starfleet also tells Commander Holden that an acting head of IA was quickly appointed in order to subdue the attack on Internal Affairs. Starfleet continues by informing Holden that the new head of IA has closed his investigation. Commander Holden is also asked to report back to Earth for reassignment.

Before leaving spacedock, Commander Holden tells Captain Kennedy, off the record, that Starfleet is endangered. Although he doesn't give details, he does tell Kennedy to be vigilant with his surroundings. Shortly thereafter, the station commander informs Kennedy that the Galaxy's upgrades are complete and that he may depart when ready. Commander Kennedy and his crew leave, never knowing the true extent of what really happened.

    Episode Five

    "Masquerade - Part I"

After a brief talk with Starfleet, Captain Kennedy informs his bridge crew that the USS Galaxy's sister ship, the Enterprise D, was destroyed at Veridian III. Although such a disaster sparked much dismay, the crew continued their preparations for a complete survey of the Ul-Kimari expanse; an area of space that Starfleet has asked the Galaxy to charter.

While on route to the expanse, Captain Kennedy speaks with Captain Picard on the Farragut over subspace. Kennedy passes his condolences onto the Enterprise's crew, and the two captains chat for sometime before subspace communications are mysteriously interfered with by an unknown source; an interference which prompts engineering to get to work on fixing the issue.

As Captain Kennedy speaks to Commander Bartlet from his quarters the captain cuts out, mid-sentence, for about 15 seconds. Upon re-establishing communications, the captain evades further conversation and instead informs Bartlet that he will be on the bridge within a matter of minutes.

After arriving on the bridge, Captain Kennedy orders Ensign Drake to change the Galaxy's course to the Opperline system at warp nine. Such a change of course immediately prompts the commander to remind Kennedy of the Galaxy's current assignment. Kennedy quickly replies to Commander Bartlet, and informs her that the Fleet Admiral himself has given out top secret orders which he cannot disclose to anyone.

Upon arriving at the Opperline system the captain orders the Galaxy to go to red alert, and momentarily thereafter a ship leaves the surface of Opperline II in an attack formation to the Galaxy, and opens fire. Commander Bartlet, in a quick response, asks tactical to disable the ship's weapon, however Captain Kennedy overides that order and instead orders tactical to destroy the incoming vessel. After a brief confrontation between the Captain and the Commander, Commander Bartlet stands down and the Galaxy opens fire on the alien ship, destroying it with one phaser blast.

After the Opperlian ship's destruction, security reports that the ship had no shields and that it was equipped with a primitive phaser array. Such a report sparks no interest with the capatain, and the captain excuses himself to his ready room.

While in his ready room, Commander Bartlet chimes in. Upon entering she expresses her immediate concern about not knowing what's going on. The captain addresses her third issue of the day with a somewhat different approach. He tells her again that he is under orders from the Fleet Admiral, and this time threatens to report her objections to the Feet Admiral if she continues to pester him. Commander Bartlet, who was thrown back at the captain's frankness, backs off and returns to the bridge.

As the commander walks back to her station, Lieutenant Jack Harrison asks for permission to speak freely. After being granted permission he expresses his objection to destroying a ship that was 1/20th as powerful as a galaxy class starship. While expressing his concern the captain joins in mid-sentence and asks the commander for an explanation of what's going on.

Lieutenant Harrison's objection is immediately supported by Ensign Drake, who tells the captain up front that what he did was wrong. The captain yells out at both crew members, and accuses them of mutiny and treason; he then orders security to confine them to the brig.

Momentarily after their arrests, the captain holds a senior staff meeting and appoints a new chief flight officer. During the briefing the captain asks the crew many hypothetical question about planetary bombardments and their effectiveness. He then asks Lieutenant Lazereth, a weapons specialist, about the possibility of constructing an antimatter weapon. Lazereth immediately objects to such a proposal, stating that such a weapon could kill millions of people at once. In the end, Captain Kennedy convinces the crew that the weapon would only be there as a precautionary method, and that if it is not constructed, billions of federation lives would be at stake.

Lieutenant Lazereth and Commander Bates are thereafter dismissed and immediately start working on the weapon. During the weapon's contruction, Commander Bartlet and Dr. Ward express concern that the captain is acting strangely. Bartlet then asks the doctor to speak with him; a conversation which ends with the captain throwing the CMO out of his ready room.

After the weapon's completion and installment, Captain Kennedy once again goes to red alert and orders the security chief to target a specific area in the planet. This course of action prompts the commander to override the captain's order; and results in the CMO relieving Captain Kennedy of duty. The captain, more furious then ever, orders security once again to launch the weapon. Sadly for the captain, Lieutenant Lazereth aligns himself with the commander.

In a daring move, the captain attempts to launch the weapons himself but is stunned by security. After being transported to sickbay, all higher brain functions cease, and the captain is pronounced dead; making Commander Bartlet the acting CO.

With Provisional Captain Bartlet in command of the USS Galaxy, the ship remains in standard orbit over Opperline II. Captain Bartlet, concerned with how the captain died, makes her way to sickbay to inquire on Dr. Ward's autopsy report. Dr. Ward informs the Captain that he is still waiting for a specific scan result and that he will inform the captain the minute he has answers. Interestingly enough, it doesn't take long for the scan to finish up and the doctor makes his way up to the bridge. Upon arriving, the doctor immediately asks Captain Bartlet if he could speak with her in her ready room. After settling into their seats, the doctor informs Bartlet that the man in his morgue is not Captain Kennedy, but is in fact an Allasomorph; a shapeshifting species from Daled IV.

After exchanging their concerns on security and the captain's real whereabouts, Captain Bartlet dismisses the doctor and contacts the inhabitants of Opperline II on the bridge. An ambassador from the planet tells Bartlet that they were in fact once inhabitants of Daled IV, but left after a civil war turned from bad to intolerable. They then proceeded to tell Bartlet that their relatives back on Daled IV most likely switched Captain Kennedy with one of their own people to try and destroy Opperline II with the Galaxy's firepower and resources.

After speaking with the Allasomorphs on Opperline II, Captain Bartlet contacts Starfleet Command in her ready room. She informs Admiral Willow that Captain Kennedy is missing and tells him about the situation on Opperline II and Daled IV. Willow in response tells Bartlet that her 'former captain' is most likely dead, and goes of on a tangent to inform her that Rear Admiral Jacqueline, the Academy Dean, was found poisoned in her office. Shocked with the latest news, Bartlet is speechless. Willow, however, is quick to bring the focus back on the USS Galaxy's new assignment. The admiral orders Bartlet to find out what really happened to her captain, and tells her to proceed to Daled IV.

While at warp to Daled IV, Captain Bartlet speaks to Lieutenant Varani in her ready room. She asks Varani if she's at all interested in becoming the Galaxy's new XO. Varani, honored with the offer, accepts the new post and is promoted to the full commissioned rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Upon arriving at Daled IV, the captain immediately hails its inhabitants. In a rude tone which sets the rest of the conversation, a representative from Daled IV asks asks the Galaxy what they want. Captain Bartlet sends the representative a picture of Kennedy, and asks her if she's seen him on the planet. Interestingly enough the representive makes the mistake of saying that she's never seen their captain before, a detail which Bartlet left out. After some more questioning the channel is closed and Bartlet orders Lieutenant Harrison to scan for human life signs on the planet's surface. Unfortunately a harmless form of radiation blocks such a scan and in response Bartlet orders Primmin, Harrison, Drake, and Ward to meet her in Transporter Room Three.

Upon beaming down to the planet, a representative by the name of Tobish meets up with the away team. He immediately tells them that the capital city is under a state of martial law and that they will find an armed guard in every street corner. Such a comment was made in response to their unexpected arrival.

When Bartlet asks Tobish why security is so uptight, Tobish tells Bartlet of the atrocious terrorist attacks that the Allasomorphs from Opperline II perpetrated. He goes on to tell Bartlet and that they were singly responsible for killing their leader, Salia. Bartlet soon comes to realize that both factions blame each other for the current despairing situation.

After their talk, Tobish escorts the away team to a lounge and informs the team that he will be returning with a superior officer within the next 15 minutes. Before leaving the area Tobish tells the security officer stationed in the lounge to keep a close eye on the away team.

Sadly for the security officer, he is called away by his own superior in response to an attempted escape in Prison Ward Three; an area just right above him. Before leaving the lounge he tells Bartlet and her crew to stay put. Suspicious at what's going on upstairs the away team follows the security officer from an undetectable distance.

Upon arriving at the scene, Bartlet and her crew witness the security officer assaulting Captain Kennedy. Quick to jump the gun, Ensign Drake tries to subdue the security officer and is shot at point blank range with a disruptor rifle. In a quick response, Lieutenant Primmin fires back.

After declaring Drake dead on the scene and tending to the captain, Representative Tobish arrives at the scene and demands that Bartlet explain her actions. Bartlet, furious at the loss of Drake and detainment of her captain asks Tobish why the Allasomorphs were doing all of this. Tobish explains that when presented with the chance to end a war that's been going on for centuries, their people chose to jump at the opportunity; even if it meant genocide. Still not happy with his answer Bartlet reluctantly returns to the Galaxy with Captain Kennedy, and with the corpse of Ensign Drake.

Back on the Galaxy, Captain Bartlet resumes her role as the ship's commander and takes off her fourth pip. Captain Kennedy, who wasn't fed for five days, sluggishly asks Bartlet for a full report and tells her to update Starfleet. Before leaving his ready room, Commander Bartlet informs the captain of Rear Admiral Jacqueline's murder. Kennedy, who's shocked about hearing of yet another murder within Starfleet Headquarters, turns around to face Bartlet; no longer appearing lethargic.

    "A Fatal Affair"

As the USS Galaxy and the USS Oakland travel side to side together, Lieutenant Commander Data beams on board the Galaxy. Data, who has been tasked with helping the Galaxy survey the Serbelk Nebula, is greeted by the ship's new counselor.

Upon arriving to the bridge, Data is introduced to Captain Kennedy. Before moving onto to business, the captain consoles Data over the loss of the Enterprise D. Although not expressive with his response, the captain was able to tell that Data was quite grateful for such a consolation. After all Data's new emotion chip is allowing him to experience emotions he's never felt before.

After their casual exchange, the captain asks Data to take a seat in Commander Bartlet's chair, due to the fact that the commander was returning Ensign Drake's body to Vulcan via a runabout. After setting a course to the Serbelk Nebula, and after going over some of the preliminary information on the nebula with Commander Data and Lieutenant Harrison, the captain officially departs the bridge for the evening, leaving Lieutenant Primmin in charge.

During the evening time, Dr. Ward issues a missing persons report, stating that his nurse, Ensign Sickawagi, has gone missing. On the bridge, Lieutenant Primmin orders both an internal scan and a diagnostic on the ship's senors.

After completing the diagnostic and scans, Primmin finds that Sickawagi is no were to be found. As the ship's Chief of Security, Primmin orders a search for Sickawagi. To his surprise, the captain makes an appearance on the bridge, stating that he couldn't get any sleep. This arrival allows Primmin to join his men on what would become a lengthily search.

As the search leads its way to the lower decks of the ship, Primmin stumbles across a foul stench in deflector control. After searching the room more thoroughly, Primmin finds Sickawagi's body; with red marks all around her neck. Once the ship's CO, CMO, and Counselor arrive on scene, things become more serious. The doctor, for one, reports that Sickawagi was strangled to death, a report which in turn prompts the captain to order a level two security alert on all decks. Furthermore, the captain tasks both the CoS and Counselor with the job of leading an investigation into the matter.

As the Galaxy drops out of warp near the Serbelk nebula, primary and back power fails, plunging the whole ship into darkness. Tasked with getting power back online, the ship's bridge and engineering crew work in isolation due to a lack of communication.

During the power outage, Dr. Ward is attacked by an unknown assailant while trying to scan the body of Ensign Sickawagi. Fortunately for the doctor, the phaser fire directed at him misses, and the assailant runs away.

Once primary and backup power is restored, the captain calls for a Senior Staff meeting. Interestingly enough, the Chief of Security reports that the cause of the power outage was in fact an act of sabotage and was in no way related to the emissions coming from the nebula. While on the subject Dr. Ward reports on the attack in sickbay. Two incidents, which in collaboration with a murder, prompts the captain to raise the security alert to level one.

During the rest of the senior staff meeting, Dr. Ward is called away to deal with a "medical emergency." Three minutes after leaving, the counsellor asks if he can leave the meeting early to make sure that the doctor is out of danger. A request which receives its approval. As the doctor walks down the corridors of deck 12, his assailant strikes once more, this time however, Dr. Ward is strangled. Arriving just in the nick of time, the counsellor calls for security and tries to subdue the assailant. Upon arriving on the scene, Lieutenant Primmin stuns the attacker and has him taken to the brig.

The assailant is identified on the spot as a civilian cargo worker named Lazereth. After further questioning, from Captain Kennedy, Lieutenant Primmin, and the counsellor, Lazereth's true intentions are revealed. All Lazereth wanted was a romantic relationship with Sickawagi, unfortunately for him, the feeling wasn't mutual.

He began stalking her, and sending her flowers on a daily basis, and when he tried kissing her one day, she slapped him. It was at that moment that Lazereth strangled her out of rage. Scared and confused, he dumped her body on a quiet evening in the deflector control room and upon hearing of Dr. Ward's autopsy, tried to kill him as a preventative measure.

After jotting down his statements, the captain informs Lazereth that he will be turned over to the JAG department for a formal trial and inquiry on his mental health. Still scared and confused, Lazereth nods in acknowledgment.
