Hey. I'm in the process of building up a comprehensive baseline table for ALL consoles in STO. I've been playing STO for a long time but I don't have tons of knowledge. However, when this is complete I will be opening this up to the community, especially to those on here known to be experts in STO to fine tune and perfect it (I know it won't be perfect because of playstyle but it will be the next best thing and provide enough info that makes things easier for newer/less knowledgable captains).

Based on my own experience, I want to help educate myself and others so they can feel more confident and comfortable building their own ships. Not having certain consoles for a build and not having info on a good alternative (I know STO BETTER does a decent job of this on their builds but it's not always there (still a fantastic resource though)) is a pain in the neck. This resource will help to, hopefully, full a gap in the STO resources that I think we have.

As my knowledge here is well below the experts, I will be using ChatGPT 4 to build most of this out (I did say it would be a baseline, to a certain extent ).

I will be adding columns, such as, Console Name, Console Description, Console Type, Passive Ability, Active Ability, Baseline Active Ability Duration, Cooldown, Where To Get It, Recommended Build Types, Weapon Flavour (if boosts), Weapon Type (if boosts), Best Alternative, Ship Compatibility, Set Name, Bridge Officer Abilities Affected. The order of these won't be as above.

I've definitely forgotten some stuff here so if there's anything else that I should aim to add, please let me know.

Alternatively, if there's already something like this in the community, that I haven't found, then please point me in the right direction so I can have a look. I will also be using as much up to date information I can find to make it more accurate eventually. Fire me any resources you might have. Even if I know about it already, this will be a good space to contain it all for reference.

PS - I'm just building this out and putting it together. The hard work and the more important information will hopefully be added by a few of the community that have the best knowledge of everything, so please don't poop on it. Thanks

UPDATE: ChatGPT is no longer in the mix. I'll be doing this manually for a majority.

As useful as ChatGPT is, it has gotten so much wrong already. So, it will take longer than anticipated but will be worth the effort

You might want to check out VGER before embarking on this one. It is a solution the community set up to mine stowiki.net to provide a visual library to every trait and all ground and space gear. The solution webscrapes the STO wiki, so it is as up to date as the wiki itself is and the players that maintain it usually keep it pretty well updated.

The solution webscrapes the STO wiki, so it is as up to date as the wiki itself is and the players that maintain it usually keep it pretty well updated.

Didn't notice the consoles when I first came across this. I did a visual scan for Epic colours but didn't see it so I moved on.

Yeah, that kind of bugs me that they made common "white" icons for everything...even when the item in question doesn't actually exist in that state. The APIs used for the VGER tool are open source and on available from the first link. Haven't tried it myself, but I think it should be possible to run their main API to call the Wiki data, then use a JSON parser to read the API output, filter it to just consoles (assuming there is a common "console" tagging of some sort in there), and dump it to a spreadsheet instead of the VGER website.

Yup, it all looks so out of place without the rarity colours there . I actually did this yesterday. I was able to pull the Startship Traits into the Type column (along with all the other columns like name, description, etc) but that was all the 'Type' that I got. Will be fixing it today and hopefully having the foundation in place for the next stage. Here's hoping

UPDATE: Success!!! The issue was in the amount of columns each different component had (Traits vs Space Equipment). I have the raw data in an excel file. Operation Clean-Up will start soon

VGER (and XVGER if you want to include the outdated fandom wiki) use the wiki's Cargo Tables to fetch the info about items, traits, etc.
The one you could use fetches all items and outputs them in json format, but it's a terribly long link (this one's for stowiki).
You want a filter for 'Ship Tactical Console', 'Ship Science Console', 'Ship Engineering Console', 'Universal Console' across the json's 'type'.

The tables on fandom are complete to the point of them becoming outdated, the stowiki ones are not completely built yet (still in the process) afaik.
