As part of the release of Star Trek Online: Both Worlds, you’ll be able to queue up for Random Elite Task Force Operations for the very first time.

Ever since the release of Random Task Force Operations, the call has come up from our highest geared players, “Why can’t we do Elite Random Task Forces?” Well, Captains, the time has come. As part of the release of Star Trek Online: Both Worlds, you’ll be able to queue up for Random Elite Task Force Operations for the very first time. As before, this feature will attempt to fill the queues of players who have picked a specific TFO first, and if there aren’t any, match players into a TFO chosen from a list. Elite TFOs are some of the hardest content in Star Trek Online, so we don’t recommend diving into them unprepared. Make sure your ship and gear are up to snuff, and if you don’t know how to do that, turn to your fellow players for help and advice.
Unlike Advanced and Normal Randoms, playing and completing a Random Elite Task Force Operation will grant you a choice of elite crafting material, rather than one based on the type of TFO, and will give you a chance at getting an extra material! This is in addition to the rewards you already receive for doing a Random TFO.
Enjoy, Captains, and get ready! These TFOs are not for the faint of heart.

Don't forget on Elite there are fail conditions if you fail it's over, in ISE you need to do 550-600k DPS to beat phase one.

I've played a lot of public elite queue pugs since the advanced consoles dropped. My experience with ground queues hasn't been bad, as by and large the barriers to entry are really low comparatively. In space however, I usually see 1-4 of my teammates pulling sub-100k DPS numbers, which can be brutal at best to impossible at worst. Particularly if they put things like Korfez into the rotation.
Assuming the random button works just like the normal and advanced counterparts, I see 2 issues. First, you never know if you'll pull space or ground, so it likely means you'll need to always spec for space and be suboptimal if you rolled ground instead. Again, ground is easier so it is more annoying than a serious problem. The second piece is that it means you will likely need a good generalist build, as your ability to tune for a specific map will be more limited.
I'll probably give it a go when it comes out...in a tank build...maybe after a few weeks when people learn their limits. 
I'm more disappointed that this will probably kill the isomag as a lucrative thing to sell on the exchange, unless it is really the re-engineering bit that holds back supply and not the mat farming.
