Has anyone tried it yet what do you make of it and is it worth investing time in?

Had a look tonight and seems visually good but not much of a starter guide it i seem to be sailing around islands meaninglessly.

Graphically, its brilliant. The hate about it looking like AC: Black Flag are unfounded in my opinion. I suspect people based that opinion on the BETA gameplay where graphics options were locked down to medium-ish settings. In the full release, you can max it all out and enable ray tracing. The lighting in particular is impressive in this title.

There are a few annoying issues like the constant notifications popping up in the corner about PVP and world events going on. But overall, its quite well polished. It runs well, it plays well, and there are very few bugs and issues compared everything else which released in 2023/24 (though that is a low bar).

But.... theres not much content.

I have been playing it since closed BETA, though not as much recently as it became very boring. Its enjoyable but there is very little content and very few playable ships. The season pass landed this week which provides a little more but its still essentially built around sailing to the same places, doing the same things, and destroying NPCs over and over again.

You can progress from the small ships into your first 'Medium' in the first day with some dedication. And not long after you can get into the slightly better medium ships. Nothing bigger is available yet, and the playable ships are a far cry* from what Ubisoft showcased in 2018.

I paid for 1 month of Ubisoft+ to play it and decide if I was going to buy or not. At the moment, I'd say its a decent game, certainly meets some of the criteria for a AAA title, but theres not enough content to justify its MSRP.

I agree with Ricwin, I also have played this since Beta and ended up buying the game, but it got boring quickly. I like the cosmetics for the ships and your character, you can even change your crew clothing. I've always been a big fan of "Barbie" lol.
