Stream was kicked off with how Jesse fixes bug, specifically the Awahanee's Fleet Array console bug.

Thanks to Reddit user TheSajuuukar for summarizing the stream below.

    Original Reddit Summary : https://www.reddit.com/r/sto/comment...d_weekly_3524/
    Cryptic Studios Stream : https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2082407751

    ---

A lot of the stream is Jesse talking about some dev/bug fixing stuff that doesn't translate well into a summary format. So watch the stream for that stuff

    • Stream with Cryptic CEO is likely to be on the 19th, but its possible it may not be.
    • Cryptic uses the JIRA software to assign tasks to devs.
    • Jesse shows off the Cryptic "Powers Editor" and "item editor" where they edit the various powers and items in STO.
    • A lot of the Cryptic staff, both current and former(Al) really like the Whale Probe, but they haven't found a good time/story to add it into STO so far.
    • Cryptic has talked about making something like Malicious AI power for plasma fires so that, if an enemy with plasma fire dies, the plasma fire jumps to another target.
    • When making the Gravity Kills TFO Jesse simulated the tidal forces of a black hole which ended up crashing the test server due to the massive numbers involved the closer you got to the black hole. Since players are doomed to become spaghetti past a certain point he could cut off trying to simulating the forces once that distance was reached.
    • Cryptic fixed an issue with Malicious AI, Tractorbeam Catapult, and Organic Nebula, powers where the different ranks(1, 2, 3) didn't share a global cooldown, so you could fire off all three ranks at the same time.
    • Also changed Malicious AI to not totally disable player's ability bars in PVP, just does impulse offline.
    • Malicious AI given the "debuff" tag so that it can be cleaned by powers that cleanse debuffs.
    • Changed some "type" tags from "none" to "duration" so its base time of 15 sections is affected by things like control expertise affect it, making your resistance to controls apply to this power, and bringing down how long it lasts when used against you.
    • Console Camera fix was done by Travis diving into the code, and not using the editor like Jesse used on stream. Should be pushed out to live soon.
    • Organic Nebula was rebuilt internally to deal with server load issues caused by its implementation.
    • The bug where Janeway was showing up on ESD and attacking people was caused by the Janeway NPCs having settings to show up depending on where you were in the story, but also allowing certain player enhancement powers that would put her into combat mode.
    • Lag was affecting some people but not others due to people having different hardware, and internet connections. Some powers make the server do the calculations, others have your computer do the calculation, so some may tax the whole server, some may just affect you. This is also affected by how the game partitions maps, and people use powers in those partitions.
    • Cryptic is aware of the "Sphere of Influence" bug with the "simon says" portion not having the icons show up. Jesse tried to replicate it internally, but couldn't, and its being looked into now by the software team.
    • Underlying engine of STO is built in C, and C++. Various editors are built in C++ and use additional C-like expressions.
    • Cryptic doesn't have us play characters from the TV shows often due to issue like dealing with likeness rights for that actor, and possible story issues like having the player make some decision about the future of that character in STO that then would have to trickle down to future story telling.
    • 2D tailor bug is affecting both STO and Neverwitner. Keith, and the core programming team, are currently working on it, and Kael believes they may already have a solution in place, but he isn't sure when that fix will go live.
    • Jesse showed off the text/dialogue editor, and all of the unimplemented work Kael had done to try to get the story blogs put in-game. The text itself is complete, he just needs to go back and add all the images from the blogs into them.
    • Jarrod, the Executive Producer on STO, is the one who decided on the "give all three prizes for the event campaign" change.
    • Jesse wanted to make a power that shoots out a bunch of small shots from your ship that, when they hit an enemy, causes them to turn slightly. He attempted to use a command that forcibly sets a player's rotation. While this worked, it also messed with the game's prediction algorithm that predicted how a player is moving/turning, to make sure some effects line up correctly with that movement, causing them to become desynced, and was told by programming he couldn't do that.

This could be interesting if they do i have been using this for a while now and its a decent one just expensive at the mo to get

I call Bullturd on the below
