Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge, he is one of Starfleet's greatest Engineers and is very very cool, Visor FTW. Data would be a very close second.

Such a hard choice so many good ones to choose from - I would say Commander William Thomas Riker only because after serving under Captain Picard he would be the next great Picard

And unlike others, i loved Tasha (Sela so should have got a movie), Pulaski (She was really awesome) and Wesley.

In Star Trek: Nemesis, Wesley had already graduated from the Academy and was a lieutenant junior grade.

For me it would be Data, kinda the comic relief of TNG. Coming in a close second would be Dr Beverly Crusher, one reason only, Red Head oh yeah a red head.

As for people voting for Wesley he isn't very good at winning polls. He did come second in one though.

Wesley Crusher also has the distinction of being one of sci-fi's most hated characters. In a poll done by Maxim magazine only Star Wars' Jar Jar Binks topped Crusher's level of annoyance. The fans polled were mostly quoted as saying he was "forced down their throats."

Damn you Wesley you even FAIL at FAILING!

Fans expressed annoyance that Wesley always seemed to be the one to save the Enterprise, however, during an interview on DVD special features, Wheaton claimed that Wesley only saved the ship 'one and a half times.'

Nevertheless, in his reviews of early TNG episodes, Wheaton admits that he understands where the fans' hatred comes from and lays the blame firmly at the feet of the writers for making the character seem pretentious, through dialogue and through their tendency to have Wesley deduce answers too easily, as in the episode TNG: "The Battle"' when Wesley made everyone else (including, in Wheaton's own words, "the hypersmart robot") look ridiculous by too easily solving the problem from just "glancing" at sensor readings that no one else could solve.

According to Wheaton, even he hated Wesley after these kinds of scenes. Other complaints include the costume department's selection of sweaters for him and the treatment he received by most of the directors. In his words, only one treated him as a person instead of a living prop.

Will Wheaton is cool though.

The sad thing is that Will Wheaton will be known as the man who played Wesley Crusher for the rest of his life.. poor guy lol.
