In order to keep everyone informed Starfleet Command would like to take the opportunity to make the following annoucement.

Last night at 9:18 PM GMT, Xar informed myself and Bondgadget that he was giving his notice of his intention to retire from his position of Starfleet Operations Commanding Officer as required under the terms of his Command Position Agreement.

Xar stated the reason for this as being the amount of time he was able to dedicate to the position and stated that "As CO - I need to be available to the masses, and I am not. I think {UFP} will be better served by having a CO that can devote the required time."

He also felt he had over-reacted in his dealings with Gripen which ultimately led to Gripen considering leaving the fleet.

Xar stated that he would "continue to do [his] duty for another 24 hours" again one of the terms in his Command Position Agreement.

At 7:01 AM GMT, Xar began using his access to our Federation and Klingon fleets to alter the permissions of a number of members, these changes included removing people from the fleet and removing the access of senior fleet members.

At approximately 10:45 AM GMT work began on identifying which members had been affected and how whilst repairing the damage that had been done. This work was completed at 1:55 PM GMT.

Starfleet Command would like to thank Bondgadget, Neo and Seeker for taking so much time out of their day working on this to ensure the work was done as quickly as possible thus limiting the impact on the membership.

At this time Xar is banned from both in-game fleets and the forums as a precaution until Starfleet Command can speak to him about his actions. Whilst we can not think of any justifiable excuse for his actions a final decision on his membership status will not be made until he has been given the opportunity to discuss the matter with us.

In the mean time Admiral Sharpkiller will be assisting with the running of the SFO division as acting CO to ensure that the existing command team gets the support they need and will be able to continue to function.

We will keep members apprised of any developments.

At 7:27pm GMT myself and Mikester were spoken to by a member of an allied fleet. They informed us that Xar had applied to join them and had in his application informed them of his actions before leaving {UFP}, this included a confession stating that he did apparently whilst drunk act against the {UFP} by mis-using his in-game power to remove entirely or alter the ranks of {UFP} members.

We are obviously disappointed that he has still not contacted us especially when he sobered up if he were drunk at the time.

The fleet in question that he has applied to have stated that they will contact us when a decision is made but have informed us that any abusive comments made towards {UFP} would result in his dismissal if he were allowed entry.

We have stated that that we do not wish to influence their decision making process and that the decision is entirely theirs.

Since Xar did not get in contact following his departure he was emailed about his actions, a response was received shortly after in which he confirmed that he did knowingly take action against {UFP} by altering the Federation and Klingon fleets in-game but claiming that it was only to cause "minimal problems, and a little confusion" after originally having "started down a much more destructive path and thought better of it" he did finish up by appologising to one specific members of the fleet only and stating that "I will not go on a mud slinging campaign against {UFP} either in the STO forums, nor in whatever fleet I end up in. I expect the same measure of respect, I think opening up the flood gates in public will be detrimental to all of us"

Xar has now joined another fleet who as promised got in contact with us to let us know.

Since Xar was unable to provide sufficient justification for his actions and has not shown any sign of remorse for his actions against the community a decision has been made on an appropriate outcome. Xar will be barred from rejoining {UFP} indefinately however he will be unbanned from the forums and allowed to visit as a guest effective March 20th 2011.
