Sorry, what?
An MSN conversation?
Surely what people say to one another in private does not come under UFP jurisdiction?
I mean sure, if it was on a public forum... Or even on the UFP owned private messaging system there might be grounds for it... But on MSN?

We have a duty of care to all our members, if one of our members is abusive to over members we have to act.

So if say me and another member were having a heated debate on msn which resulted in that other member insulting me or my work, if I showed the chat logs to you then that other member would get banned?

You haven't seen the chat logs. The point is that Jantrix behaved inappropriately during a discussion regarding a problem that delt with the UFP. This was his 3rd strike, and that is the reason for expulsion.
And your rhetorical question.... If another member of the UFP insulted you in an official capacity then I'm sure the appropriate action would be taken. Jantrix wasn't discharged purely for this incident, but for a string of violations of the CoC. This just happened to be the 3rd and final strike.
I hope this gives you a better understanding without going into details which need not be discussed in a public manner.

Greg is correct - this is not the first issue, and the decision was not taken lightly. All aspects of the situation were discussed, and after a chat between three members of SFC and Jantrix, it was decided that this was the correct course of action.
If someone abuses our members, regardless of whom, it needs to be dealt with. It just so happens that this was strike three, and his actions after the fact pushed a majority SFC vote into the opinion of choosing discharge as opposed to demotion.
Please, everyone take note that discussions on MSN between members must follow the rules of the CoC, even if it's not with your {UFP} tags. SFC must take this stance otherwise it would open our members to all kinds of unactionable abuse. Respect for others is something that we all need to practice 24/7, not something we can turn on and off with our tags.
