As I finally have some down time over the summer, looking to fill up my Kindle. I do have plenty on there already but wondering if people have suggestions.

Have a number of favourite authors such as Peter F Hamilton etc

The Honor Harrington novels by David Weber are great, and the first two, "On Basilisk Station" and "The Honor of the Queen" are both free at the Baen website

Star Trek books!

There have been some very good ones over the last few years.

"Millenium" Trilogy (DS9, set across a few points of the series and the future)
"A Time To..." Series (TNG, set between Insurrection and Nemesis)
"Destiny" Trilogy (Crossover, set post Nemesis)
"Typhon Pact" Series (Crossover, set post Destiny)

As for individual novels not part of a series.

"Resistance" (TNG, set after Nemesis before Destiny)
"Before Dishonour" (TNG, set after Resistance)
"Greater than the Sum" (TNG, set after Before Dishonour)
"Q&A" (TNG, takes place after Resistance but can't remember if its set just prior to Before Dishonour or after Greater than the Sum")
"Losing the Peace" (TNG, set after Destiny)
"Indistinguishable from Magic" (TNG/SCE, novel set several years post Destiny)

A word of warning though everything post Nemesis is tied together very well between the various Star Trek franchises so its better to start with the earlier books and read in order where possible since TNG, DS9 and VOY have all effectively had new seasons purely as the novels and there are a lot of events that crossover.

The Sharpe books by Bernard Cornwell are great, they are about a British soldier in the Napoleonic wars so there's lots of fun to be had .
Also "Of Mice and Men" and "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck are great reads.
Just wondering, can you get graphic novels on Kindles?

I like Unity (DS9 Relaunch), but I mostly read non-fiction, so I'd recommend anything by Carl Sagan.

Don't know if it's your cup of tea but First Light by Geoffery Wellum is a great read. His memoirs of the Battle of Britain and his flight training in Tiger Moths and time in Spit's during the war. Great read, if you have an interest in aviation or military history you'll love it.

The Destiny trilogy is a good Trek series I'm just getting stuck into the Typhon Pact.

Have you got The Wardstone Chronicles/ Spooks books? They're incredible!! Artemis Fowel is good as well. I'd also recommend The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, still need to finish them myself.

Hopefully when your stuck for books next summer, mine shall be out. :p

I have read David Weber's Safehold books but will check out free anything that free. Think I've probably read every post DS9 book, quite a few on my Kindle although I am a little confused about the Ilina Gemor (?) plot line. Some have been distinctly better then others but I find them quite good for attention free slightly trashy reads when I've been quite busy and just need to occupy myself.

I haven't read the Sharpe books although my Dad has always enjoyed Bernard Cornwall's stuff so might cadge them off him. You can get PDFs on Kindle although I don' really like the way it formats them. To me the success of the Kindle is that it focus mainly on one thing which it does fairly well and doesn't dilute that with trying to add functionality that isn't needed in that instance.

Not heard of Geoffrey Wellum, sounds interesting will definately check him out, nor Wardstone Chronicles.

Loving the Fire & Ice. Got the last two to read yet, very twisting and difficult to put down.

Neil Gaiman's work is fantastic and definitely worth checking out! Anansi Boys, Stardust, American gods and Neverwhere are some of my favorites.

I went on a Lois McMaster Bujold marathon, reading every single novel about Miles Vorkosigan in sequence, back to back. The first one is available for free from the publisher here.
