Star Trek: Hydra (Bridge Commander Role-play)

Hello Reserves,

A couple of nights ago we had a play around on Bridge Commander, in the style of an old fashioned improvisational roleplay and after that night i wanted to be able to add a bit more structure to an role-play event as well as a backstory - this role-play is still improvisational so if you do sign-up please do your best to role-play (this can either be through voice or text - bare in mind, voice can sometimes be a lot of fun - if you don't mind making a fool of yourself).

Please have a read of the backstory before signing up so you know the current situation within the galaxy. Every week, there will be a movement in the story which will should affect how people role-play.

Backstory:

The year is 2377, two years after the Dominion War and 7 months before the return of the USS Voyager, Starfleet has recently setup an remote outpost within the Serris system. An system on the very frontier of Federation space, in the Alpha Quadrant, which is part of the Hydra Sector which has recently become an area of interest after a geological survey, completed by the USS Columbus, which indicated high concentrations of dilitium and other materials vital for ship construction.

After the survey results became public, the Romulans, Klingons and Cardassians found out about the information and all want the sector for themselves, as most of them are still rebuilding their fleets after the Dominion War. As the Federation was closer to the sector than the other species, they were able to build a small outpost within the region, in an attempt to secure the region and prevent further escalation.

Whilst The Federation and Klingons still have an alliance, they are in desperate need of the materials to rebuild their fleet, thus the Klingon High Council has decided to take more interest in the Hydra sector, even though it is technically under Federation rule - this has thus affected relations between the two empires.

Whilst the Cardassian Union is bound by the treaty of Bajor to not build up their military, the Cardassian 11th Order - one of the few orders to take limited casualties during the war - have separated themselves from the Cardassian government in an attempt to secure the region for the Cardassian people. Even though they have separated from the government, it has increased the tensions between the Klingons, Romulans and Cardassians - with the Federation believing the reason provided by the Cardassian government, thus creating more of a rift between them and their allies.

Now that tensions throughout the quadrant have increased, the sector has become a hotspot for small skirmishes and conflicts, whilst the Federation continues to try and host negotiations to settle the dispute, events keep unfolding which seem to making negotiation impossible, including Romulan political issues, as well as Klingon internal tensions between the houses.

Starfleet has sent Task Force Omega to protect Starbase 124 in the Serris system, as well as protect further Federation interest within the region. Task Force Omega is comprised of the following ships and captains:
- USS Monarch (Sovereign class), commanded by Admiral Adam Moorey (Adster94)
- USS Endeavour (Intrepid class), commanded by Captain ...
- USS Charleston (Excelsior class), commanded by Captain Siobhan Andrews (Minnow)
- USS Melbourne (Excelsior class), commanded by Captain Phillip Grimes (Sammygm)
- USS Columbus (Nova class), commanded by Captain William Hood (Ben Hurley)
- USS Aurora (Nova class), commanded by Captain Torinth B'Lor (Torinth)
- USS Farragut (Akira class), commanded by Captain Charles Dentari (Dentari)
- USS Phoenix (Akira class), commanded by Captain Mark Lazereth (Lazereth)
- USS Hermes (Norway class), commanded by Captain Craig McClintock (McClintock)
- USS Cortez (Excelsior class), commanded by Captain Wyatt Solace (Solace)

Additional reinforcements:
- USS Antares (Akira class), commanded by Captain Edward Hannard (Conner)
- USS Repulse (Excelsior class), commanded by Captain Phoenix Bondi (Phoenix)
- USS Cairo (Excelsior class), commanded by Captain Jonathan Holden (Jonathan F-G)
- USS Galaxy (Galaxy class), commanded by Captain Sotak (Chris Halsey)
- USS Gandhi (Ambassador class), commanded by Captain George Bartlet (Bondgadget76)

The names of the commanders of these ships, will be determined by the person who gets the ship, one person will also be the overall commander of Task Force Omega, and all of the Starfleet ships/installations within the Hydra Sector (this won't be me, unless no-one applies for the position).

Ships are served on a first-come-first-serve basis, if you delay then you may have to pick another ship. Another key point is that you should always focus on the survival of your ship and crew, because if you lose your ship then you will have to wait for an week before you can take command of another ship (this would be the time required for Starfleet to send reinforcements - this is designed to inspire more role-play).

The sign-up will close on Monday 9th December, so you have a full month before the role-play will start to provide everyone enough time to decide - but remember be quick, otherwise your ship may go!

can we choose any of the above? i mean i'm not admiral in fleet so i can't choose a galaxy? - Dose the ship you choose decide what u might have to do etc?? i'm interested but don't know weather to go Norway *escort* or Intrepid *Sci*

Also, as you all know i'm a big star trek modder for the bridge commander scene, so i will ask right out....What do i need on an install as you can guess my normal install is HUGE and fulla crap...namly the new single player campaign beta lol

You can choose any of the ships not taken, but you have to always play as that ship during the role-play, and it doesnt effect anything except what you fly - you can role-play in whatever way you want, as long as it sticks with the story, and also involves possibly other people.

All you need is KM 1.0

Very interesting idea. I might have missed it but do you have an idea for a day and time? It is something I am interested in but I wouldn't want to put myself forward for something if I couldn't guarantee that I would be able to attend regularly.

The day/time I had in mind was the usual Reserve Night day and times; Monday 21:00UFP, but I am considering changing it to Sunday at 21:00 UFP instead, depending on which is easiest for everyone who is part of the role-play.

I would also like to add, that although on the ship roster there is only 10 ships - if all 10 slots get full, I will expand the roster to 15 ships.

Plus, I would also like to ask those who do sign-up - it is optional, so you don't have to - but I would like each Captain to write a captains log, based on what happened during the role-play, or even during the week between 2 role-plays. Writing the captains log, will allow you to influence how the story may progress.

As this is the case, when the role-play starts I will create a Star Trek: Hydra thread for all the captains logs, and other news to go in.

However, as I said the captains log is optional, either way the story will progress, but it will increase your immersion as well as influence the overall story.

Plus don't sign-up if you aren't 100% dedicated, as I wouldn't want people taking up ships and then not turning up to the events.

Well I think, although its well and good to try and base it off as many people as possible, I will set down the day and time for this - and that is Monday at 20:00 UFP (maybe 21:00UFP if 20:00 is too early) - so that everyone has something to aim for in a months time
