Well I have seen all of the star trek series haven't watched all of enterprise but seen some, But what came to my mind is does any else but me think DS9 last episode what a cliff hanger I really like it because of all the up in space battle scenes but it ends on Sisko have just went to learn with the profits and we never see him again. I know there books when he comes back but there non-cannon. Think its a bad ending due to it being a cliff hanger??? Do wish they would make movie with sisko coming back???

I think it ends well. While I would've wanted to see even just an 'epilogue' scene where Sisko comes back at whatever time, it still provides good closure to the series overall. IMHO it's the best series, for many reasons.
Many people consider at least some Star Trek books to be canon, since we'd never see a continuation of these characters otherwise on television or film. Particularly Ezri Dax..

I fully enjoyed the aspects that the show brought up, friendship, loyalty, honor, lots of action and even humor . But i never really liked the prophet or pa'raths parts of the show.
But I stuck with it cause I loved the characters in ds9, the story could delve anywhere and I'd still watch because of these amazing characters. Huge fan of Worf.

I personally loved the ending but I'm not sure if I agree or disagree about it being a cliffhanger. On the one hand I feel the original story was completed and everyone's story arcs came to a conclusion, on the other hand it left things open for new stories.
I think the re-launch books have been great but it was a little disappointing that there was a big time gap between the re-launch books and when the Typhon Pact crossover novels started which meant that some story arcs never got completed.

[QUOTE=I think the re-launch books have been great but it was a little disappointing that there was a big time gap between the re-launch books and when the Typhon Pact crossover novels started which meant that some story arcs never got completed.[/QUOTE]
Yeah, there is about a year (I think) between the end of the DS9 reboots and the Typhon Pact books. Very disappointing. Although they do try to go back and connect some of the dots in later series (like the Destiny series). The hardest part for me is reading everything in order and having things referenced that I haven't read yet. Which tells me that there is a bigger story arc in the background that the writers are working on, but it's still tough to follow sometimes.
Anyway, I'll get back on topic and stop sidetracking.
I was watching DS9: Emissary the other night and Sisko gave a quote that really resounded what I was getting at earlier.
"We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions."
I think the end of the series answered the questions we had, but gave us new questions that we are seeking answers to. And since that's the definition of humanity that Sisko gave the prophets, I find it very fitting that the series ended by demonstrating that concept.

Personally, I love DS9, it is my favorite series of the bunch. I enjoyed and was saddened by the way it ended. For me it was a "finality" to the Emissary/Prophets story arch, but it was sad because there was no finality for the other characters with Sisko. I think what made the show great for me was the ensemble cast, they had great chemistry and the characters were well written (and the storylines too). I would love to see a DS9 movie, but I don't know how it could be done. It's not necessarily setup to lend it self to a feature movie(s) like TNG. At least in TNG they are traveling and exploring and working in the infinite universe. With DS9, it focuses on the station and not too many episode were off the station, so there might be limited opportunities for that. But I would love more Dominion War... anything with hundreds of starships going into battle is good with me.

Hated the ending, just like the ending of Battlestar Galactica, it was S**T!
Considering how well DS9 episodes were written, it amazes me to no end how bad the last episode was. Not just the let down in regards to the final battle not actually taking place all the way to the scene with Sisko and Dukat....

I have to agree, I wasn't really a fan of the ending of DS9 either. I was expecting a Battle of Berlin style grand finale where the Dominion and Cardassians clung on until the bitter end, forcing the Alliance to bleed for every square inch of space they took. Instead we got a half-winded engagement (I wouldn't even class it as a battle honestly) and a fight over a conveniently placed firepit. It was just too gimicky for an otherwise brilliant series.

I also have a mixed feeling about the end of DS9 but another end wouldn't had given the books so many opportunities to develop there new characters and clever storyline. And in opposite to Soral I love the books from David Mack I enjoy the fact that he can kill of some characters and spin a new interesting story arc out of the waves erupting from the event. I especially loved his 'Cold Equations' books.

It's been many years since I've first saw the end of DS9 and I still feel that there is something lacking. Maybe it's because I like Sisko too much to not see him returning ^^

I don't mean to bump and old thread but I have been watching a lot of ds9 lately and I want to know any other opinions
