Friends and colleagues,

As you might have noticed by now, I have stepped down as Councilor of Andoria, and my Federation News Service role as well. The removal of my permissions happened quicker than I thought, but that is neither here nor there.

I have been a huge fan of the UFP and it will always hold a place in my heart. I've had a GREAT number of opportunities over my four years of membership - academy instructor briefly, the simms, Internal Affairs XO (former FAB in a way), Harriers CO, FNS and Herald writer, and Federation Councillor. Most of these were provided by my own hard work in concert with trust from the leadership here.

These opportunities have not come without their stresses and issues. My aim is not to air my dirty laundry, but merely to give context as to why I have resigned from my positions. In my opinion, I have been made to feel under appreciated and overlooked over time. And this has caused me angst and anger, to which I react by lashing out once in a while. This is even more reason for me to be held back in the eyes of some, and a cause for more ill-will. A vicious cycle has thus brewed over the last year or so.

I resigned from Harriers last fall and tried to take a break, only to realize that I still love the UFP (always will). I began to help again and was delighted to be on the Council. The first trial term was great, but in this second term I feel ineffective and unable accomplish what I set out to do, and thus my feelings returned. With this and other peripheral goings-on within the community and with other members, I have found that I can no longer volunteer in administrative roles.

I take all the blame that is from my own doing. But I know that I am not solely responsible for what has happened. Again I will not name names or point fingers, but there have been many missed opportunities and neglect with me and others in the community. It is unfortunate that these things happen and I hope that changes some day.

I have made some really great friends here in the UFP and I have made amends with everyone with whom I've had a tiff, to my knowledge. I hold no ill-will towards any individual, and will be glad to call every one of you friends here on out. Even Kains (ok, I had to pick on someone truly innocent).

So to TL;DR it - I have enjoyed myself here in UFP and hope to do so in the future. I have had many opportunities as well. But I have also had too many things go wrong by my own hand and by those of others. And unfortunately the latter is overbearing.

For anyone seeking answers to my vagueness here, I am willing to talk in private, although I will not deface individual members in so doing. I will be fair and professional to the last. Otherwise, I hope to see you all around. It's been a pleasure serving you, and perhaps I will have the energy and opportunity to do so down the line.

In all seriousness I completely understand your position, having walked in at least a few of those shoes. Despite evidence to the contrary, I also don't want to cause any drama, so I'll simply leave it at that.

In the meantime, retirement is a pretty sick gig: The hours are great, the drinks are plenty, and the view from the peanut gallery is fantastic!

Quite a change indeed. Having been a part of the Council since the outset, Caymen has undeniably helped shape it into a working and efficient body. This departure is understandable but unfortunate. We'll have to look for someone to fill his shoes in the Council now!

Whilst working with Caymen I got to know him and this will no doubt not be the last time we come into contact.

Actually, in addition to my permissions being removed almost immediately, my mailbox quota was lowered. I specifically asked to keep it high given my long tenure in the community. It seems someone overlooked that request as well. I say this in case others try to PM me.

I stepped down from 90% of my sites as Admin, reviewer, moderator in the last year and love it. Now instead of dealing with a bunch of BS every night I spend my time with my wife......... well still have to deal with BS but at least I get more lovings.

Jerk! Nah, it'll be fine - just wanted people to know why I can't PM. I am, as you and SG say, looking forward to less stress. I don't really do Trek gaming as administrative stuff is more my bag. But it'll mean more freetime in general (although I have other hobbies that will fill some of the gaps).

It's understandable that after how much you've done, you need to take a break and sit back for a while. I really appreciate all you've done for the UFP thus far, Caymen. Forefront in my mind is that you had an important part in molding the Council into what it is now, a functioning and symbolic part of the UFP. I hold great respect for you Caymen, and hope that you eventually come back to the FNS or the Council. It's understandable that after how much you've done, you need to take a break and sit back for a while. Being a CL3 for a while is always a nice way to relax.

Sorry to see you do this, it is nothing short of a huge loss for the UFP as i know how passionate you can be about subjects you care about, as demonstrated in our various chats regarding SIMMs and other subjects.

But, sometimes you have to make decisions based on what is happening at that time, things come to a point where you feel "impotent", so from that perspective, i completely understand your feelings and why you have done what you have done.

I am sure we will have many discussions on many subjects on TS as we have in the past

Like many others, Caymen, I only have a great respect for you and your passion to make UFP a better place in whichever hat you wore specially when you think that all these efforts are not done for pay but out of love. Thank you for your commitment and your passion. I do wish you have a good break and rest from the hustle and bustle of CL5-CL4 world as you duly deserve. Yet, I suspect it's not the last we'll be seeing of you and another thing comes to mind, it doesn't take a CL5-CL4 position for anyone to make a significant contribution to everyone's enjoyment of the community and I'm sure you'll figure out your niche in time but for now, please do take care of yourself!
