Not sure what there is to learn in this timeline, but on Memory Alpha the Sheliak Conflict has ended in this year. Would we be expecting to hear anything about this? My bet would be no, but it'd be nice if the writers did do their research

The one thing I'm confused was the decision to revisiting the past yet again. While I thought it was a good attempt at expanding on the foundation of the Federation; however, despite generally enjoying much of the Enterprise story it only had four seasons. TNG, DS9 and even Voyager all had fairly good run's though seven season's despite the odd rating drop. Writer's managed to adapt or introduce the right elements like introducing Worf to DS9, or Seven to Voyager along with other plot twists to keep the audience engaged.

Others may argue the success of the JJ verse show's the 2258 movies in many cases out performed at the box office many Original & TNG movies, so perhaps it all come's down to the investment, special effects, story, and character development or things that keep people coming back for more... even if much of what I love about Star Trek was inspired mainly by TNG.

Wonder what everybody's else thoughts on that might be? Personally I hope Discovery does well... I'd just like to advance the story post Nemesis, or perhaps it's because I don't like the ship.

I would have loved to see something continue on, mostly because I would have liked to hear bits about what happened after Voyager. We know Janeway got an Admiral posting, but outside of that, I don't think much more was said. I don't understand why they went back in time, it's really hard to go backwards and do something without someone finding a hole in it.

I do hope that Discovery will work and will be good though!

Well I just noticed a rather large problem. The name of the ship is the USS Discovery. That sounds fine, right? Well the prefix USS denotes a ship which is in service to either the US navy or Starfleet. Starfleet after 2161. This is set in 2255 and thus Discovery should not have that prefix! Starfleet didn't have a name prefix until 2161. The registry also has this problem: NCC was only used after 2167, before that starfleet ships just used 'NC'. This is a similar problem to my main gripe with Beyond but don't get me started on that, not here anyway.

Am I looking too deeply into this? I guess that they could just change the currently established cannon. And this doesn't change how enjoyable it will hopefully be to watch.

But it is a good point, don't think you thought too deep into it, many people who focus on lore and canon should have spotted such! I don't know these things because it's hard work keeping up with established lore for everything I'm interested in.

Ahm this plays in 2255, 94 years after the creation of the Federation and 10 years before Kirk so it should have USS and NCC on it's hull.

Now you spotted that error there Bridger, I follow and looked it up on Memory Alpha, which I probably should have done anyway. But the USS Essex, established in canon, has the USS and NCC prefix on the ship hull and that was in service before 2167, when it was destroyed. Memory Alpha states that NCC was originally used by all Earth spaceships, until 2161, where it was used for all Starfleet ships, as for NC, that's just for auxiliary craft.

The Franklin vanished in 2164 after the foundation of the Federation when MACO and Starfleet were combined into the UFP Starfleet, during this time she got the USS Prefix and a new reg number.

So another quick note on the timeline and possible setting. Another "event" that happened in Star Trek canon in 2255 is the Treaty of Armenia with the Sheliak.
