The Games Committee takes great please in announcing the completion of the 2nd Khitomer Games. I would like to thank everyone that participated and all those who made this event possible. But without further ado, Congratulations are in order for Team SFO as they are the overall winners! It was hard fought on both sides but Team SFO landed the last blow in the final tie-breaker match to seal the victory. Each member of Team SFO will be awarded a Master Key and a forum achievement for their victory. SFO will also be the current holders of the Khitomer Games Trophy, it will be displayed on their division's page. But with that said, they will have to defend it from HoK for the 3rd Games! Something tells me that HoK will be pretty motivated to earn it back!





The 2nd Games also grew over the 1st in that we had two more participants and we were able live stream it on Twitch so that interested people could watch, if they didn't want to participate. The replay can be seen HERE. Most importantly, it is probably safe to say both sides had a good time, and regardless of the outcomes, everything is for good fun. We strive for the event to be as inclusive and accessible for both new and old players a like while building camaraderie through friendly competition. We would love to have so many participants for the 3rd Khitomer Games that we would need to split the teams up and run simultaneous matches!

The Games are always striving for continuous improvement. The one of the ways we do this is through discussions among the Game Committee members and another way is feedback that comes from anyone. I encourage anyone interest in the inner workings of the Games to consider becoming a Committee member, we typically meet once a month, for a completely optional meeting to discuss ideas, suggestions or feedback we receive and vote on rule changes. Like mentioned earlier, we welcome feedback from anyone! If you saw the announcement post and it didn't seem to interest you, we would love to hear what things we can do to make it more interesting for you!

Chase thought, and I heartily agree, that what I sent him as feedback in a PM should really be put out in public so that anyone who is leery about participating in things like the games could see it. As I am too busy (okay, lazy), to type a long message again, I am just going to paste what I sent him, almost word for word.

"Hmmm, feedback.....

Let's see. I was bit leery about participating at all as I am not really into PvP action, and I am more of a basic pew, pew player more than anything else. I joined because I was asked to ..... and my senile ole brain doesn't remember who it was.... and when I saw that HOK seriously outnumbered SFO I decided why not, I can always be cannon fodder, anyone shooting at me means they aren't shooting at one of the more experienced players.

Then I saw the rules, specifically how the ships/weapons/powers were regulated to try and level the playing field and started thinking that it might not be so bad after all.

Then it actually happened and ..... I had a BLAST ! ! ! ! Although I had to leave after the VIP match to attend a business dinner, I really, really wanted to stay for the last match.....did I mention I'm not really into PvP ? And yet I really wanted to stick around for the last match ?

The games committee (?) has done an awesome job of insuring that no amount of grinding/money can be used give a player an advantage, meaning that, other than actual playing skills, a player who's been playing since Beta, has no more of an advantage than a new player, barely high enough level to join the games.

::::At this point I have left out a kinda boring section about unfortunate delays causing the games to run late....Chase, you are more than welcome to paste that in the forums if you desire:::::Back to a the copy/paste of my message

IOW, as I said, the only thing I did not like about it had nothing to do with the actual game itself, or the way it was run, it was just that I couldn't stay for the whole thing Smile

I am definitely looking forward to the next games and will definitely participate again as long as real life lets me."


Except for the boring part I redacted, that was my feedback to Chase on my experience in the games. Anyone who enjoys playing STO, but hasn't wanted to participate in things like the games due to not liking PvP, or thinking you have no chance going up against people who have played/grinded and spent money to have the best ships and gear, give it a try. Like me, you will almost certainly be pleasantly surprised.

Fair warning though, you just might get hooked........

Thanks Sir for streaming and doing referee! Thanks to all participants for the great time and especially thank you, Chase, for the good organization and the support before and during the event!

This was my first PVP in STO ever and I wasn't sure if I should participate without any experience. It also was my first gaming experience in a group of the UFP at all. In retrospect I have to say and I can only agree with Ariotex: I had a blast! It was an amazing time and I'm definitely looking forward to the next time.

Congrats to House of Kular, too. You all fought with honour!

This could almost be the return of PvP; do you think we could do this sort of thing on a regular basis? Maybe do similar rules but with tier 3 or tier 4 ships?

We are actually discussing some changes to enhance the combat and balance the even a little more.
