When not participating in episodes, events, or collecting Dilithium for Zen, what is there to do? The Foundry? Are there any exploring missions? I'm currently mining dilithium constantly, trying to save up for the refitted/upgraded USS Enterprise-D with the three nacelles.

I do reputation stuff, Borg Alerts, re-run some of my favourite episodes, help those in fleet or in zone chat who ask for help with content - especially those levelling... and the battlezones such as Kobali, Deferi, Nimbus to kill time.

I enjoy crafting and working on my doff's and admiralty. I also enjoy running STF's and refining my build.

Recently I have started on a couple canon builds which I am really enjoying. With the alien creator I have made a Jem'hadar, and my crew is made up of more Jem'hada, Vorta and a changeling. I purchased the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought and Attack ship to go with the character.

Canon builds aren't as powerful as a meta build, but are more fun in my opinion.

What do you get out of the Borg Alerts? How do you find people that need help in fleet, just ask on the Fleet channel? Are the battle zones the same as the Borg Alerts?

I do them since I like doing them really, not much in it for me other than enjoyment as I have all the reputation marks in the game I need. I usually ask on the UFPlanets chat or if someone asks help, I assist them with it.

Battlezones are open world combat zones where you can fight alongside other players who are within the same area - so you don't necessarily have to group up with them. Hence it makes them different from Borg Alerts, as you don't queue for them - you just go to that area.

I go for the alts, I'm currently running one through the Iconian War arc in an NX class and I've a newly minted Klingon alt that I'll be bringing into the mix soon as well.

On the nights I don't alt, I'm generally just hanging around doing stuff like STF's, surfing the exchange, dil mining and I like to head down into the Dyson ground battlezone to phaser some dinosaurs every so often.

Back to topic, I recently was trying to refine my main build as well by grinding for dilithium and ec and doing many ISA pugs to monitor the progress. It is also a great fun to team up with someone in UFP chat doing some STFs. Also alts is something I am working on. With the new summer event ship in mind I am thinking about building a Babylon 5 Narn toon who can pilot this ship as I think it kind of matches the theme.

I'm sure there are other patrol missions you could go on, however I know these listed above work for kdf and fed. Awesome xp too if lvling ship mastery.

If you want to get into doff system you could try the clusters that are along the edge of galaxy maps (used to be where you could do explore missions before they took those away) But with those you establish colonies. Where you can also get some good doff once you have a fully operational colony there.

What are canon builds? ISA pugs? How do you make a Babylon 5 Narn toon on here, you mean character?

A canon build is something that tries to replicate what's seen in canon - so phasers on a Galaxy class with photon torpedoes, that sort of thing.
That's in contrast to a meta build, which is something that conforms to the metagame, basically min/maxing builds.

ISA = Infected Space Advance
Which refers to PvE queue Infected: The Conduit, on Advanced difficulty
The middle letter is either S or G, because there's a ground queue called Infected: Manus.
Likewise there are space and ground versions of Hive, Khitomer, and Cure. Thus HSA, KSA, CSA.

Toon is slang for character, yes. Don't know where it started from, but it's not limited to STO. The character creator/tailor in STO is pretty flexible, particularly for the Alien race. So people can mimic Narn, Cardassian, or whatever.

Could not have explained it better. You left me one thing though: a pug or pug run is playing a STF like ISA in a random team environment, so basically what you do if you just join the PvE Queue. That is in contrast to a STF run in an organized team for example in an UFP event where players possibly have different roles or their actions are at least a little more coordinated. I actually do not know what or if it has to do with dogs, it is also common slang.
