Hi,

im currently trying to install my bridge commander CD copy, but when i run the setup EXE i get the main screen come up then i click on install and nothing happens.

i have tried running it in windows XP service pack 3, and running the program as an admin but nothing seems to work.

if you could help me out that would be great!

Hey,

The best bet you have, and is what I always have to do is go into the CD, via Windows Explorer and find the setup.exe then run that manually. That will skip the autorun process completely, thus allowing you to install it trouble free.

Be sure to run the .exe as administrator and under compatibility Windows XP SP 3.

I know this is quite a while after the fact, but I found this thread while dealing with this exact problem (Though I'm on Windows 8.1 FWIW).

I solved this problem by re-booting into "safe-mode" and proceeding to install.

I have no idea *why* it worked, but I'm super happy it did and just wanted to share this here for the next person who has this problem.

I've installed Bridge Commander as described in the guide.

But after starting the game (via the shortcut or directly the exe) nothing happens, no black Screen, simply nothing.
The stbc.exe doesn't show up in the Task Manager.

I'm using Windows 10 64bit. I already tried a fresh installation in a different folder (c:\games). Do you have any suggestions?

I also have Windows 10 64 bit. On my pc Bridge Commander runs without a problem. Just saying this to let you know that it is possible, but of course it doesn't really help you solve your problem.
Which Setup Guide did you use? Was it this one: https://ufplanets.com/showthread.php...ommander-Setup ?

If not, please check if you have set the execuable file (stbc.exe) to run as administrator (right-click on stbc.exe, select properties, select tab compatablities. Set compatibilitymode to Windows XP service pack 3 and set to run as administrator.
That should do the trick.

I am looking into possible fixes for win10. So far I found some for win8, but not win 10.

Based off my old tips, if you set "_ISDel.exe" to run as WinXP Sp2 and then go set "Setup.exe" to run as WinXP sp2 as well, it should work. Then run "Setup.exe" from the folder.

I'm pushing maybe 10 fps, but when inside the bridge I can look around at 60fps. The bridge crew looks/acts choppy, and 3rd person view outside the ship is also extremely choppy. I've tried different compatibility modes, tried with kb mod, patched and unpatched, and it doesn't seem to be working with and without your guides. any tips on what I could do to get rid of this game-breaking choppiness?

Slow frame rate?
I can't say I have had that issue, but I will look into it since I have a win7, but its 32bit not 64 bit.

so it's not -exactly- slow frame rate. when im in the bridge view, i can look around no problem and it feels smooth. but all crew and out-of-ship actions move at ~10 fps or less, it's weird. I might have to make a video of it and upload.

When I tried to install Bridge Commander on my Windows 10 PC with a Intel i7, 16 GB Ram and a Nvidia 1070 I also got around 10 FPS in the game no matter what video settings I picked.

It runs way better on my old computer with a Pentium 4...

Go ahead and jump around through the video, but the key notes are this:
1. REAL fps is still high, since you can see me looking around the bridge just fine.
2. Crew members look around choppy
3. Every time i center on an officer, the zoom in and out is choppy
4. 3rd person ship visuals are choppy
5. Even when on the bridge, everything projected through the view screen is choppy as well.
6. The choppiness doesn't change on any circumstance, whether it be what ships are fielded, if there's combat, etc.

Now this is on stock patched bridge commander. I have cycled through the following settings:
1. stock patched/unpatched, max settings (as seen)
2. stock patched/unpatched, minimum settings
3. kobayashi maru max and min settings

All of these settings have replicated the exact same results. If you're still willing to help, let me know what else I can provide to figure this out.
