Good morning/afternoon/evening,

I've got about 25 hours into EVE now and since I haven't smashed anything or rage quit at all or even come close I think I might stick with it. So, I'd like to join our corporation but I really don't know how that works in-game. Do I have to move everything I own at once to our base (s) or can I do it a bit at a time? Also, is it a long way from where I started (Gallente)? How do I contribute to the corporation and what is the best way to learn what the heck I'm doing in order to not suck or suck less? This game seems interesting and fun but I've also stuck to hi-sec areas and really don't want to lose everything while moving to a new region.

Hopefully, I can provide some assistance here.

You can do one, both or neither really. We're based out of Averon, which is still in Gallente space. Not sure how far it is from the starter system, but probably not that far. We're about 6 jumps out of Dodixie. If you want to bring your stuff, we can arrange to haul it for you. Or you can just leave it behind and come out in what you want, and slowly replace/augment what you have where you're based.

Also, is it a long way from where I started (Gallente)?

I imagine its probably only 10-15 jumps from where you started, as you should be close to Dodixie.

How do I contribute to the corporation and what is the best way to learn what the heck I'm doing in order to not suck or suck less?

Corporations aren't like STO Fleet holdings, where you have to donate stuff to it to develop it. To help contribute to the corporation, all you need to do is play and have fun with us! You can mine and donate or sell your proceeds to us. You can run missions, and our tax rate will take a small percentage (5%) of your bounty and reward amounts, which helps fund the Corp. Or you can do anything else you want, and simply donate ISK to the corp!

As for sucking less, that's mostly trial and error. There's no real 'crash course' on EVE Online. You just have to try things, see what you like, see what you don't like, see what works for you, and what doesn't. Its mostly experience. I've been playing off and on since 2004, and I still don't know how to do everything, and I certainly do not consider myself an expert! I'm good, but not amazing.

You can run missions with fellow corp members if you're getting stuck, we're always willing to help out. You can join us for fleet mining events. You can just ask us for help on anything really!

That does answer some of my questions. I've sent my request in and now that can make its way through the system. I'll look and see how far Averon is from me. Most of my stuff is in Clellinon right now but there are bits and pieces in a few other spots. I got a freighter from doing missions so I can move a fair bit of stuff at once but not all of it. I've been mostly mining so it's a lot of minerals but I did spend 2.5 hours tonight blasting Serpentis drug runners and got some loot I don't know what to do with...

There's a fairly good chance that the loot is mostly junk. Three has this amazing habit of collecting junk.

My advice would be to sell what you can. Never sell anything that's got a -50% or greater loss attached to it, as its just not worth it. If you find anything like that, reprocess the stuff to get the base materials for it. You also need to reprocess any Ore you have lying around and convert that to minerals as well. Sell the minerals, and you'll likely get a good cost for them. That way, you have a lot less stuff to transport later.

There are some really good tutorials on youtube about playing the market... it does get complicated. You can always put an alt into a nullsec entity and ake your money stocking the local markets there and if you do that you'll want to train into a Jump freighter and a deep space transport along the way. A lot of guys make truck loads of isk running reaction farms (lot of training needed but something to look into and since all the new changes not sure how that works anymore). Many guys put an alt into the main trading hubs do nothing but buy and sell. You can make a trillion but it takes a lot of effort...
