I've tried googling it, and have actually gotten conflicting answers.

The general consensus seems to be its part of the Original Timeilne (ENT > TOS > TNG > DS9 > VOY), but all the trailers I've seen just scream Kelvin Timeline to me. Now I'm not a movie hater, so I honestly wouldn't mind that, to tell the truth, but with the conflicting reports, I was wondering if there was anything definitive.

Most likely is Prime, although I am wondering if they will ever have a time travel episode like Enterprise did and visit the TOS era bridge. I doubt they'll be able to explain why techology looks so different 10 years in the future.

It's pretty much set in the prime universe and looks like JJ-Trek.

Yeah they keep saying it's the Prime but the looks, feel, and story feel like something directly from the Kelvin timeline.

I appreciate that set design and production technology has advanced since TOS was aired, but this still looks too modern/flashy/JJ to be the prime timeline predecessor, I will of course hold all judgements until i have watched the first episode.

I said this on a previous thread but I'll throw this little reminder out there again. While the USS Discovery takes place 10 years before Kirk, the ship is actually 10 years newer than the USS Enterprise. Also, through the trailers I get the impression that it is some type of experimental ship.

I'd kill for a Post-Voyager Prime Timeline series, but it's pretty clear at this point, STO is the only thing we're going to see in that regard.

This is the worst of both worlds. We're stuck with a prequel series in a pre-established timeline with the future plotted out for over a century. But we're doing it with nice, bright shiny new effects and design, reminiscent of the new film series, AND it seems to have the same darker one of the film series.

Now, like I said, I *like* the films as their own timeline. But who exactly is this series made for? Movie fans aren't going to like suddenly dealing with timelines and alternate realities, and classic fans want CLASSIC Trek, not NuTrek with the serial numbers filed off.

The Discovery could be a brand new ship after all.

Technically, it is a reboot of sorts as they are rebooting the series side of the franchise. But yes, it is in Prime, it may look JJ and what not, but it is Prime they just never should have done a prequel to TOS, as they have to make everything look fancy for the modern audience, yet pre-TOS is anything but fancy. Seems like they don't really know what they are doing, but I am sure they will have an explanation for it all.
