I just finished watching Episode 3, and OMG this was the Trek we have not seen for decades on TV. The Episode was comparable\ equal to The Measure Of A Man or The Offspring.

'About A Girl' was refreshing. I loved how we weren't given the ending we were hoping for. Usually we get that in one way or another but to have it denied is closer to reality than some Star Trek episodes have been. 9/10 for this week's episode.

So, I watched Ep1 and part of Ep2. From the quote above, Seth is right in that it's closer to Star Trek and not really Galaxy Quest. To me, the comparison is a little unfair. There is humor but it's not the typical whackiness of Family Guy. I think Seth is working for a sci-fi show that takes itself seriously *enough* without trying to be like Star Trek.

At the same time, there is a light-heart in the center and that is appealing to me.

Anyone watch his movie, 1000 Ways To Die In The West? Orville has that kind of comedy, if one must insist on linking Seth to "funny".

Having Jon Favreau involved in the show elevated it's rep to me as I respect his vision for certain projects.

Adrianne Palicki was an interesting choice to opposite Seth. She's done some "ok" work in the past, but there is something ... off ... there. I can't put my finger on it though and I can't recommend a replacement if I had to. All the other characters stuck with me by the end of the first episode except hers. Even into the second episode, it's like the show is trying to figure her out as well.

I've added Orville too my watch list, although I'm slightly behind now. Might pick it up with an episode tonight.

Episode 4 was good and again felt very Trek.

Yea I liked the 4th episode, the humour wasn't over the top! I think its defo finding its feet well.

Quite enjoyed the episode. Seeing A-listers signing up to do episodes is quite surprising, especially when they bring their considerable skills and presence to the show.

Do you think these A-listers are helping the show overall? Maybe it's too early to say, but I think it's a good thing. I'm curious if they can keep that up though.
