Actually, this has got me thinking of Frank Abagnale from Catch Me If You Can. Some kid just shows up wearing a uniform, and tours the Alpha Quadrant.

Yes, I really like this idea of a subplot, maybe the stowaway doesn't stay on the ship for the whole season, maybe they are kicked off or who knows maybe they escape if they were taken captive. Then this stowaway can re-appear throughout the season just in different places, like a ship or on a planet. And the character helps the crew or even better becomes their archnemesis. Someone who is always trying to destroy the Ares!

I like that reappearing, even on the planet haha but I'd like to see that he's always either trying to help or just trying to survive and ends up helping, indirectly. Maybe when we're going to write him out someday, he could turn into an arch nemesis, kind of like Kes, but I'd like to be temporary and situational. First, I'd like to see him/her last for awhile in the shadows doing good or just struggling to stay hidden, if anything.

haha for real AND I don't think only one person should write for this character, but any of us can slip him into our own arcs and scenes as we see fit, as long as it doesn't violate anything previously written about his location or personality. This character could not just hide in shadows, but sometimes blend in as a crewman for his own private motivations. Maybe he couldn't get past the psych test at the Academy but still has the will and drive.

Crazy as it sounds after everything he's done, Abagnale is a consultant and lecturer for the FBI academy and field offices. He also runs Abagnale & Associates, a financial fraud consultancy company.

There'd likely be a lot of Cardassians that collaborated with The Dominion and thus are not popular on their homeworld anymore. Akin to Nazi collaborators in European countries following WW2. Someone like that would have a good reason to try and escape plus, when found, would be a very polarising influence on the crew as a lot of back stories include suffering from the Dominion War. Isn't the Ares first stop Cardassian space?

I would love our first major mission to include this but I do have one problem. The Cardassians where more reminiscent of the Italians in my opinion, they were used as cannon footer by the Dominion so they could preserve their troops and ships. At first, the Dominion was very nice and warm to the Cardassians but was much more cause behind their backs, the second the Cardassians started to lose battles the Dominion started to be openly aggressive to the Cardassians. The people of Cardassia started to despise the Dominion and the officials who gave them to the Dominion. This lead to a rebellion against the Dominion and when the Dominion retaliated with slagging Cardassia 90% of the populous started to openly rebel.

But in still there where the supporters of the old ways under Dominion rule and they reside in the badlands, in fact, there is a whole arc in STO about it.

In fact, I could continue to write more and more but I would just like to direct you to a video that takes the words right out of my mouth of what the people of Cardassia would be like after the Dominion:

Plus I guess we'd be in danger of just reworking that DS9 episode where (Spoiler!) that Cardassian file clerk is pretending to be the Gul who was responsible for atrocities on Bajor. Only this time it would probably be a Gul pretending to be a file clerk.

Haha yes very funny but still factual. I agree entirely that some Cardassians would want to harm the Areas crew out of hatred, contempt or fear! Captains and Admirals in the navy committed major war crimes by UFP standards and a majority then join the True Way in the Badlands where they tried to create an alliance with the Terran Empire. A lot of the politicians that supported the Dominion probably went into hiding as well.

We can think of untold amounts of ways to integrate a Cardassian plot into the story, good or bad.

Noting a personal opinion here: Lets stick with Alpha/Beta Quadrant races which have close ties to the Federation, as in members and allies. Last I checked Talaxians were still in the Delta Quadrant

I would hope presumably that the Talaxians from "Homestead" were able to maintain a relationship with the UFP several years later. I was really envisioning my character more like Worf or Nog - someone who had been sponsored for going into Starfleet, but wasn't part of a member world. I mean, Talaxians don't even really have a homeworld. There are some elements from the STO story that I'm not in love with, but I do like the idea that the Talaxians have close ties to the Federation and eventually get a new homeworld. I know we're not using the STO story as part of the roleplay project, though. I do still think you could find an explanation 2-3 years after Voyager ended as to why a Talaxian might be on a Starfleet ship.

I will agree my Reman ambassador was kind of a lame idea. I was thinking of maybe doing one more character right up? Maybe a Vulcan nurse for the open medial/science division.

VOY: Endgame Notes

1. It took Voyager 7 years to get home in the series. That episode stated that it eventually took the ship 22 years to get back to the Alpha Quadrant if the transwarp hub hadn't been taken as a shortcut. This means it would take at least 15 years for a Talaxian to reach Federation space.
2. Star Trek: Voyager concluded in the year 2377 and Star Trek: Ares starts in 2381. There's a 5 year gap in between the two.

I am not against having a Talaxian on board but there is no way one could join us at this point in time. It is too soon for anyone to travel the distance required without a breakthrough in transwarp or slipstream technology.

I think the Vulcan character would be good.

So he's essentially the first Talaxian Starfleet Officer... but I demoted him down to an acting ensign and still studying at Starfleet Academy. The Ares is his field studies assignment. But look! I agree in full, It may turn out to be an interesting part of the Character, being so far away from home surrounded by people with different customs and beliefs, overwhelmed wouldn't even begin to explain it!

I don't think you should change from your Talaxian character at all. In fact, I think it would have greater RP output that the Vulcan. And having another Wormhole, this time from the Delta Quadrant would be a threat to Starfleet and the UFP so that too can be very interesting.

Hey, Bugsy6 welcome to Ares RP!

If you do as Scarlett said you can find the list of positions, you can find me as CMO (Cheif Medical Officer) and a fair bit below that an open position for a medical/science role. I'm saying this because, for Medical you get to choose which role you want, these include:

CMO assistant. Ensign.

Nurse. Ensign.

Doctor, Lt.

Surgeon, Ensign or Lt.

So if you want to RP hard you can join those, I also think that science and engineering have similar positions available.
