She's also, *the* main character, so the rest of the universe can burn in a tornado fire at this point.
She may well be, but unfortunately, compared to nearly every other character on the show, she's just so boring and unlikeable. The other crew members, particularly Saru and Stamets, are far more interesting.
And speaking of Saru, if Mirror Lorca is out of the picture and they're not planning on doing anything with the Prime Lorca (in other words, no more Jason Issacs), Saru should get the captain's chair. If we were able to see Burnham getting a full pardon and reinstated rank back into Starfleet, I would expect the chances of her ever being given her own command at that point are virtually non-existent. They pulled a similar stunt with Worf in DS9 in which he got off more or less scott free as the incident was classified but was warned he'd cost himself any hope of ever getting his own command.
Season 2 may see a shift back towards the TNG formula coupled with the overreaching arc of DS9, but I'm not really sure where they plan on going.

I personally loved it, I find it gripping and although you can kind of see where things are going the cliffhangers and plot turns in how they happen aren’t obvious!
I’d love to know where prime universe Lorca is not we know the other one is an ass! I like the fact as well that the main character isn’t a captain it’s refreshing in a way!
I cant wait till Monday (UK can’t watch it on Sunday :-/ annoying!) to see wats next!

There are plenty of shows out there that get rid of main characters mid or end of the season, like MI5, Game of Thrones and others. Mabee this is the route the want to take discovery. Make for emotional experience, especially when you start to relate to some characters.

Well Saru, at least, showed he's up to the task of being captain now after the HUGE blundering he did at the start of the season. I'll definitely enjoy seeing him in the big chair (and I will be super salty if they put some guy we don't know there and keep him as the XO). As far as getting rid of Lorca, it is a satisfying end to a character arc, and, while I do still have my nitpicks about the show, I wholly appreciate they aren't following in the footsteps of every other show where status quo is god. Even DS9, they only changed the status quo once by starting the Dominion War, after that every episode was "and the war rages on"
Star Trek isn't even my favorite Science Fiction, actually. Babylon 5 gets that due to the top notch writing, but a close second is Stargate for two reasons: One they constantly and consistently have scenes and episodes that are, hey remember that time/place/thing we saw some time back, so anything could end up being important and it brings some continuity The other is, between the usual planet of the week, they shake up the world at least once a season, which keeps it from getting stale. So far, I think DS9 is the only Star Trek series that has accomplished that since it's stuck where it is while the rest fly off to new ventures, and you can watch episodes out of order and not even notice. I'm totally onboard with Discovery being willing to shake things up.
