What's Past Is Prologue

The episode first airs on the 28st January for American viewers and the 29nd January for international viewers.

I certainly wasn't expecting time travel, at least not this soon.
But it's sure as hell exciting.

Another banger of an episode. Hardly any fluff nor filler, just all super exciting action and story!

At this stage I'm fearing the time-travel to become a "retcon" tool. So many people are murdered so unceremoniously.

Including... you know... the ♥♥♥♥ing captain himself.

IF Lorca stays dead and someone else (Seru or Michael) become the real captain of the Discovery this should go down as the largest bamboozle in Star Trek history.

Presenting him and that actor as "the new captain" and then killing him halfway through the first season would be a masterpiece.

Especially after so many people disliked him and whined at the show and the captain not being Star Trek/sympathetic enough. It was all part of the wool that was being pulled over our eyes.

Edit: Ehm yeah it does seem like Lorca is dead... Check this interview!

The move marks the end of Isaacs’ regular involvement with the show — the Harry Potter actor only signed on for season 1, as he eventually reveals near the end of the interview below"

And he confirms that they've been setting the bamboozle (for lack of a better term) up all along:

"ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, so in terms of Mirror universe Lorca — who as it turned out was the Lorca we knew all along — he’s really, truly dead, right?
JASON ISAACS: Here’s the context: I’ve lied to all of the press constantly since the very first day I got this job. So why would you believe anything I say now?"

to be honest. i know this the way it was with Kirk aswell but there is no reason to believe prime lorca is not alive. somehow. somewhere. there is no proof for it aswell but. they may come up with a way to bring Prime Lorca back and have Jason Isaacs return. cos personally i loved him as a captain. Yes he was morally gray or dark at areas. but he was a solid leader.

Maybe but as far as I understood it, if you use the Ion-Storm method identical events have to happen in both universes as in Mirror Mirror as they swaped uniforms when they transfered into the other universe.

I wonder what happened to the actual mirror Discovery, is it still running out running a muck? It would be interesting if it was destroyed by the Klingons and as a result they believe our crew died in the war. Or even worse would be they did some terrible things for which our Discovery will get in some heat for.

I put it all together as soon as soon as discovery ended up in the alter universe because I am old enough to remember the original Star trek when Kirk ended up in an alternate universe it made total sense because like what was said in other posts about the cap not being none fed material.
I am now wondering about how long it is going to take for the emperor to cause huge problems, because now discovery doesn't just have one but two Wolves on aboard.

but It still bugs me a little with the Klingon looks I still haven't been able to find or figure out why they look that way.

Hopefully this episode has set up Saru to be captain, to me, he fills that role quite well.

Kinda find the time travel bit of just 9 months kinda stupid, especially considering apparently the Federation lost the war...how on earth do they come back from that? We will see! But Lorca is dead, no ifs no buts, he is dead. Especially considering Issacs only signed on for one season. Plus, it’s cheaper to get rid of him anyway...

Just seen the promo for the next episode, seems a bit off to me that Starfleet has lost a third of its ships and yet the Klingon Empire has only occupied 20% of Federation territory. I’m interested to see how they play this one out.

The episode was predictible but fun to watch. I'm not a fan of them playing with time travel already, but lets see what they do with it. I also quite did like Lorca as Captain, its sad to see he won't be around any longer.

I watched the trailer but didn't really get the answer to Tain's question - of what happend to the mirror discovery? The klingon is winning the war because of them?

I assumed that as regular protocol as Discovery has not been around for 9 months with the war going strong for Klingons and now spawns outta nowhere, however didn't associate it with the presence of mirror discovery or what it could've possibly been doing or that it was present in the present for sure.
