Does the board software allow for notification when someone quotes from a post you made?

The idea is that I can timely respond to conversation if I know who and where someone has directly replied to a previous comment.

I don't think so, but you can subscribe to a thread so you'll get an email telling you there's a new post! Maybe our tech guys can look at adding some form of notification system for quotes.

I don't know about the board software, but I do know a thing or two about SQL... if one were to have a special check for when they were quoted, the system would technically have to compare EVERY SINGLE POST against each filter for those who wanted notifications. You're potentially looking at a bottleneck situation especially in longer threads. That is, of course, assuming that we're not caching the posts (which would take a significant amount of resources).

I could be completely wrong, however. Like I said, i don't know the board software. I code text-based RPGs.

I find myself using the Reputation system to notify people I have quoted to get them to respond. And it's happening to me as well.

It's feasible, but it depends highly on how many others would like this feature implemented.

I know that feature from other forum softwares and I always liked it. I'd like to see it implemented

On the forum systems I managed in the past, vBulliten and Invision Power Board, this was a feature and a very useful one at that, and If I remember correctly, those two did allow for the notifications to be turned off (for those of you who are concerned about notification spam).

I wholeheartedly support the implementation of this feature.

I certainly support it, I can't see how it would be detrimental at all, if a toggle exists then everyone should be happy.
