As the time may dictate where one may be? If it is during the main "Alpha" shift, i.e. 0800-1400 (8AM-2PM-ish) many may be at their duty stations. Others, if working the late night grave yard type shift, may be just trying to get to bed.

As said in the Prelude's first post, departure is scheduled for stardate 58776.2 (October 11, 2381, Time: 07:30:43) - The Captain will be on the bridge early !

Oooo I can't wait!

It would be funny if a post is really dramatic and intense and it builds up for when the Ares is about to go to warp and then it breaks down due to it being new.

Also, are we thinking of having a run in with Orion or Ferengi raiders who are taking advantage of a decimated Cardassia? It would be a good way to introduce the entire crew to combat and it would be a good practice run for what is to come through the rest of the project?

A scenario:

We are travelling at warp 7.7 to a colony on the outskirts of Cardassian space, it was destroyed by Dominion forces when the local populous heard of the atrocities on Cardassia and rebelled. Due to it being on the outskirts of Cardassian space it has received much help but it has had plenty of visits from Orion raiders and pillagers. As we travel through warp we are intercepted by Orion pirate vessels that claim we have entered their territory. After negotiations fail and combat starts we destroy 2 out of the 3 vessels, we follow the third back to a colony that just so happens to be the one we are trying to assist. Turns out an Orion pirate gang has taken over the planet and is using it as their HQ to raid other merchant ships and colonies.

This way we can experience space and planet battles and all departments will be involved in some way.

If I have a concern is that several people who signed up for Ares, have not posted anything in the Prelude. It's my perceptions some key positions have had very little to no interaction, yet. So, the more complex the scene, the more involved participants should be . Ugh, bad sentence but does that make sense?

I mean, what the plan for tagging someone who doesn't respond?

Well... I guess we can put them in a situation where they will need to get really involved. Now not to toot my own horn but, I do think that a combat scenario will involve everyone.

From Engineers who will repair blown out parts of critical systems that have been damaged.

Tactical firing weapon systems.

Science officers scanning the ship for potential weaknesses or ways to improve weapon systems against their hull.

Security can help carry wounded to the sickbay or deal with intruders such as Orions trying to plunder our vessel.

Medics to treat the wounded.

Bartenders to still young ensigns nerves once the fighting is over.

Councilling for those who have PTSD from the war and 'flipped' out.

The Squadron fighters to battle smaller ships and to fend off any shuttles trying to sneak boarding parties aboard or doing the same to get on enemy ships
