INSTALL:
Triggered Windows 10 Pro Windows Defender warning.
File: Star+Trek+Adversaries+-+Setup.exe => Run as Administrator
No location selector. Defaults to C:\Games\Star Trek Adversaries
FIRST RUN:
Failed. Locked up.
SECOND RUN:
Connected to Update. Running v03.2
Running dual monitors (1440x900 each). Clicking in the second screen's window causes the STA window to lose focus and minimize from full-screen or windowed.
CREATING ACCOUNT:
- The indicator is barely visible when clicking on fill-in fields. The fields should clear when clicked on.
- Make it clear these are real-world info boxes, not character info.
- Extend the text boxes. My email address scrolled off the left side. There is room, use it.
- Secret Question shouldn't be an option in the dropdown for the Secret Question.
CHARACTER NAME:
- Worked just fine.
TUTORIAL:
- Can't access settings, play is choppy because of high GPU/CPU usage, can't lower it. The screen is defaulting to a size larger than the screen, can't change it.
- The final move is not immediately recognizable. There is no indication of what needs to be done once the Enterprise shows up.
FLAGSHIP SCREEN:
Yes. I am picking nits. It's what I do. I was a copy editor for three years.
- Seven would say, "I have been assigned…" Not I've.
- "…that are drafted in-game…" Missing hyphen would make the meaning clearer.
- "…from the ship's abilities
- Clunky text: "Flagships have two abilities. A Special Ability that uses 20 Auxiliary Power, and an Ultimate Ability that uses 40 Auxiliary Power." Not costing.
- TYPO: "Flagships earn 5 Auxiliary…" Not earns.
- "…each energy not used or point of damage taken." So for every point of damage taken, I get 1 AP?
I installed it. I tried playing it. I can't play it. Not with my hardware.
Hardware:
Dell Optiplex 790 Desktop (DT. Not Mini-Tower, or SFF, or USFF)
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT
- Chip Type: ATI display adapter (0x94C1)
- DAC Type: Internal DAC (400MHz)
- Total Available Graphics Memory: 3067 MB
- Dedicated Video Memory: 256 MB
- System Video Memory: 0 MB
- Shared System Memory: 2811 MB
Monitors:
- Dell 1909W (Analog) 1440x900
- Dell P1913 (Analog) 1440x900
OS: Windows 10 Professional 64-bit
Version: 1709
Build: 16299.251
It can't handle the graphics load. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. There were more typos, but that's little stuff. A missing 's' here, an extra 's' there… I'm sure someone will catch them.
Final first impressions:
The deck building is not intuitive (to me). I couldn't easily find cards that I owned that weren't in a Deck. There was nothing that I saw that distinguished between cards in the deck and cards in reserve. But I could be a blind old fart, too.
Even after opening the options and dropping the graphics to Impulse (cute, BTW), I was lagging badly. It's probably more to do with my hardware. (If anybody has a spare 2 GB, PCI-e x16, low form factor, <35 watt max draw (through the PCI slot, external power ports are acceptable), video card… Donations are gladly accepted.
It looks good though. I mean it's pretty. What I saw while running MAX resolution looked really good. Even at the lowest level, the graphics looked good. So there's that. I still couldn't get the whole screen in the window. I can screencap it if it'll help. Basically, center the screen and lose everything to the right of the Options button, the same amount is missing from the left, top, and bottom. I don't know why.
IN BATTLE (Single player vs. AI):
- The enemy targeting was a little precise. A little more slop in the hit zone probably wouldn't hurt.
- Explanations about effects on the ships in the fly-out cards when the ship is hovered over wouldn't hurt. (Disabled, Haste, whatever else you got out there)
That's really all I can say. I ran two PvAI battles (Beat the Ferengi, lost to Riker) and it took WAY too long.
Now back to the batteries…
"And when I saw the breadth of my domain, I wept, for there were no more worlds left to conquer."
Feedback - in the non-fullscreen mode, it'd be great to have a borderless window gameplay option.
The deck editor is very confusing, especially for someone new to this genre (didn't play hearthstone alot) and still figuring out what each card is and what their usefulness is towards creation of the deck.

Okay, so I'm not insane. Thanks for that!
You got the whole game onscreen? I never managed that. Even when I took it off full screen.

Yup, it came to me in fullscreen mode by defaut.Upon unchecking the fullscreen mode, I just maximized the window. But that typical windows border kills immersion so I eventually went back to fullscreen to get rid of that.
There IS an Options button on the Login screen. The display resolution can be dropped before playing the tutorial. I didn't see it because everything was geared toward creating the account. My bad.
I'm guessing all of the performance problems I found are due to my system's limitations.
Also, the issue with the game screen minimizing when clicking outside of the game window seems to have vanished as well.
Oh well.
"And when I saw the breadth of my domain, I wept, for there were no more worlds left to conquer."
Also needs to be easier to hover over cards of your opponent to check what they do.
I am as bad at this game as every other card game though, so I will have to netdeck! One interesting thing is that it looks like they have a legendary limit for decks.
First @phaeton#9727, Thank you very much for the feedback and for being patient with our pre-steam build. Many of the issues you described will be taken care of on our migration to Steam, which should take place in just a little under 3 weeks.
Additionally, the UI/UX right now is rough, but rest assured we know, and we want you to know that what you see now is just a temp UI. Our primary focus on the art side has been on 3D and Crew art. Now that those two aspects are nearly complete for our initial release, we are turning our art team loose on the UI. We like to call the current UI, “slightly better than programmer art”.
About system performance. There is a Graphics slider in the options menu, which if set to the lowest setting should give you decent performance. We continue to work to make the game as efficient as possible for all users. There are a few more options we intend to add to disable things like motion blur and screen glow, which might boost performance for some users.
Also, a quick note…the options menu in the Battle Screen was lacking a few features like “fullscreen”. Those have been added in the latest patch that went live last night.
One feature also added in v03.2 was the ability to import and export decks as plain text. You should be able to share decks now with a simple copy/paste.
Once again, thank you all for interest in the game. I’ll check these forums as often as I can, and I look forward to seeing all those UFP names on the leaderboard

Played a couple single player games, my first thought is that the Federation disables ships WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY too much, I spent at least half the game looking at my pretty ships that couldn't do anything.
Switched to the starting Klingon deck, and I really think the Klingon special abilities are kinda weak. Probably seems that way because basically all the ships in that deck are made of tissue paper, and die whenever they attack another ship. I know Klingons are more offense, but they do _sometimes_ survive battles. I also find it to be a bit of a slap in the face that the best ship in that Klingon deck is a D'deridex. Switch it to an actual Klingon ship please.
The starting Ferengi ability to steal your low attack ships is a killer in starter decks where all you can get out at any decent speed are ships low enough to be stolen. Heck, they can even steal the ship your special ability summons.
I'll keep messing around with it and see if some of the above is mitigated once I have a little more experience with it.
On a small tech feedback note, you really need to let us choose install drive and directory, my C drive is an SSD for Windows, I don't put anything else on it normally.

Ok, update as promised. Looks like my disable complaint was deck based, not faction based. It was just Riker being a pain in the neck. Played against Crusher, nowhere near the disable problem.
I think the Klingon Ultimate for the Raptor is ok now that I've played with it a bit more.
I'm still a bit confused by the deck editor, are the 1-7+ numbers at the bottom pages of cards, or costs of cards? If it's cost, something isn't working right, because if I choose Neutral ships and click 7+, the D'deridex doesn't come up. Can get to it by scrolling down from the cost 1 cards, so just not sure what the numbers are for.

Yeah, the editor remains a mystery. What exactly is the point of the "Core cards"? They look pretty, but I can't add them to my deck, so I fail to see any point to them.
