I always wanted to watch the original Robotech, but just like TOS, it's too old for me to get into. The art and effects are one thing, but the pacing is painfully slow. After watching the original Gundam series, I can't do something like that again :/

However I have seen Shadow Chronicles and I enjoyed it. My favorite (so far) would have to be Macross Frontier.

Agreed that the pacing of the original show is ... Dated.

If Netflix's Voltron is considered "anime" then I also recommend it if you were a fan of the original series. I'm about to start season 4 (because I need to get through The Expanse first ).

I remember reading about it in NewTypeUSA before it aired in Japan (This was in late 2000) and I thought it looked like it was a great show. A year later I watched a fansub of it and...

It had such promise, but it fell short on so many levels, the techno-babble was non-sensical, even by techno-babble standards, the space battles had no sense of flow to them and hard to follow, and for a crew of Cadets that were essentially about to graduate from a Military Academy and enter service, were incompetent at best. 3/10, would not watch again.

But what can you expect from J.C. Staff, they should have stuck with what they were good at: Harem anime with cheesy love-triangles

I'll never hate any franchise the way I hate Haganai. The show itself isn't that bad...except for having the most purposefully dense protagonist in anime. The way the whole story ends though...

Just finished Netflix's Castlevania and it's very meh.

Oh, and Netflix's Godzilla: the last 30 minutes-ish were better than the first hour-ish. I mean, I get build-up and exposition, but zzzfest.

Has anyone seen Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers, whatever you wanna call it)? I watched the remake, 2199 and I REALLY enjoyed it. There are a few episodes that feel VERY Trek. Not to mention the music and visuals are amazing! Ep 1 should be available on Crunchyroll for free.

I havn't watched Hanagi in a very long time, is it bad that what I do remember is good? :/

I watched Your Name today, good film, the story was good. The plot was kind of obvious, but not too obvious, won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it! Certainly worth watching though, if emotions weren't irrelevant, I might have felt something! But very good, really enjoyed it.
