I am pleased to announce we will begin Chapter 2; Dorvan V on August 10!

We will start off with a space battle to drive off a Nausicaan blockade over Dorvan V. We'll be up against several Nausicaan Raiders.

These ships are of a rather old design but is still in use by the Nausicaans. Their technology is rather limited in space and they only keep up as long as they can overpower the cargo ships they usually target. Up against a Sovereign Class starship like the Ares, their ships are outmatched in almost every way so it'll be an easy victory for us with practically no damage or casualties. It is on the ground where they are a true threat because of their size, strength, and resilience to pain. After the fight, we'll be able to contact the colony and begin the relief mission.

In general, each specialization will be doing the following:

- Security is going to be assisting in handing out the relief supplies to the colonists and capturing any Nausicaans still on the planet.

- Science will be working on a way to clean up the radiation still affecting the colony while Medical will provide triage.

- Engineers will harvest the local asteroid belt for resources which will be used to manufacture orbital defenses.

These are just guidelines on what will be going on in the chapter. There are sure to be more twists and turns as we spend time with the Native American Colonists and the Cardassian Advisers stationed on Dorvan V. Everyone's individual stories are free to continue in the next chapter, such as Laxeth's possible connection with the Orion Syndicate and Cushing's upcoming Kobayashi Maru Test. I'll be leaving the Chapter 1 Discussion forum open until we start up Chapter 2.

I'm running the Captain, Dyrell Teriir, with Locke as a side character. I'll only be posting as Locke when there's something going on which is important when the Captain is unavailable (mainly from not being in the same room at the same time). Kenny is one of the additional Tactical Officers I came up with as "NPC's" for the story back when I was still the CTO.

There was a 2 day time skip between the end of Chapter 1 to Chapter 2.

We have a ships log running which announces location changes/major events. Whenever we change to a new Chapter, there will be some form of time skip (a few days to several weeks) to advance the story to a new location.

Later on, when we're in unexplored space, I'll be using a Captain's Log to touch on areas we see but don't spend time at. An example of this would be hosting part of a chapter on a newly discovered habitable planet while only reviewing that we observed a solar flare in a different solar system.

Got a little behind with updates from being busy in RL over the weekend.

I'm pleased to welcome LogicalLeopard and his character, Lt. Commander Biiqs "Bix" Tarquin, to the roleplay as our new Chief Tactical Officer!

I also regret to inform you that Saelanna is departing from the roleplay, as most of his time is needed within the UFP's Starfleet Academy. I completely understand as I know a lot of my own time has been filled with my obligations to the Ares Roleplay.

We'll work on where Saelanna's character left off as best we can. As for how Bix gets there, Leopard and I discussed that:

There is a long list on our "to do" list. We have to hand out the relief supplies to the colonists. There are Nausicaans who have setup bases on the planet's surface to attack the planet's settlements. There is a large amount of radiation polluting the planet's atmosphere which needs to be cleansed. The medical staff is standing by to provide treatment to everyone affected by the radiation. We also have to construct a number of orbital defense platforms which will be manned by Officers due to be transferred from the USS Lakota around the time we are due to leave the system.

Just as a info: I will be on LOA from this friday until the 30th August. Asteropax & Allan Hood already know about it and they will take care of my character during that time. I will try to make a post to complete my medical check from Chapter 1 until friday.

Oh, one last detail about the Lakota. Are we having Erika Benteen as the Captain still?

Nice idea but wouldn't she be in prison for firing on a federation ship?

Gooooooood question. Not meaning to touch Godwin's Law, would Benteen have been sanctioned for her actions, even though she was following orders?

If not, then the rest is moot.

If so, then how harsh would the follow-up action be?

Alternatively, we (i.e. not me) could say the Lakota is captained by another without mention of Benteen because of the probability she was removed from that post and not necessarily court-martialed or demoted, per se. Maybe transferred to cargo barge captaincy or whatever.
