If you ever see me on Teamspeak or Discord, I am one of the quite ones. Even though I am not much of a talker, I am friendly and can in fact converse quite openly if I do end up engaging in a conversation.
I tend to write more eloquently than I speak.
With all this in mind, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise to see me introducing myself to a community I have only just joined instead of remaining reserved.
I am new to Star Trek Online but saw enough in the game to warrant my playtime and a lifelong subscription purchase. I am enjoying my experience quite a bit.
I've always had a passive interest in Star Trek. I've wanted to give it more attention over the years, and I may very well do so now that STO is increasing my interest in the franchise. Despite never having considered myself a Star Trek fan, I am not completely unfamiliar with the franchise. I am simply enough of a geek to know certain things, whether I pay much heed to them or not. Also, my father was big into Star Trek, as well as a friend of mine.
I have watched a few episodes with my father and enjoyed them regardless of how young I may have been. I have also played the PC title "Star Trek: Elite Force" back when it was new and I still remember my experience with the game quite fondly. I also had the pleasure to meet some of the actors and actresses at Comicon. It is now a running joke in the family that my mother is a long lost sister of Deanna Troi since the two look identical, at least in the photos that were taken.
Since I am new to the game, there is still much for me to learn. I have just recently hit level 51 and have done some of the story arcs, with many more to go. I am looking to acquire a T6 Fleet vessel and top-grade Bridge Officers in the future, as well as accumulate much currency, all so I can help myself and perhaps even the Fleet more readily. Of course, these things will take time, and I certainly wouldn't even want to "beat" the game in one day anyway.
I am at the point in which I believe joining a Fleet, and a large and active one at that, will provide me with the insight and supported needed to elevate me to a higher level of experience and expertise.
I suppose I will finish this post by answering some of the questions provided in the sticky.
I am from Canada (Ontario). My time zone is EST. I am thirty years of age. And just so it doesn't come as an unpleasant shock to anyone down the road, I am a male. Neveah is my character in most games I play. There is just something about her that makes her more fun to play as than any others. Maybe it is because she is a healer. Maybe it's who she is as a character. I can't say for certain, but I will not argue; she has helped me overcome my social anxiety and depression, much like sunshine on a rainy day.
My favorite genre when it comes to gaming is RPGs. I like to write and work on stories and characters and it is a very cool thing to be able to create a virtual representation of a character of yours and play them out. It even helps to develop them as characters too.
Cheers! And kind regards, fellow Trekkies. I look forward to seeing some of you in-game and can't wait to participate in whatever activities you offer.

Yay, another Canuck! Welcome to UFP!
You'll get the hang of STO eventually, as when you get into the nitty-gritty of the game mechanics, it can be pretty deep. Luckily, this community has some of the best 'theory-crafters' in the STO community as a whole.
As for being shocked that you're male, no reason to be shocked really. It's actually quite common for males, when given the choice, pick female avatars when that choice has little to no effect on gameplay. My take on it anyways is if I'm going to stare at the back end of a character for hours, might as well be something that I enjoy looking at, amirite?
I too like to write, if you're interested check the link in my signature. I'm even working on a sci-fi story right now, and I'm in the process of world-building at the moment though, working on characters, settings (answering questions like, what colour would the sky be if you were on a smaller planet with the same air density is hard), researching how people act/behave with disabilities (the story has a blind protagonist who at some point will be put in a life/death crisis situation where they are paired with an emotional-truama induced mute character and they would have to work to overcome the challenge).

Welcome to the UFP, NeveahScottis!
There is a lot to learn in STO and we'll be sure to help you out any way we can. There are plenty of other things you can join in unrelated to Star Trek as well within the community since there are fans of just about everything here.
As Aceman said; there are a ton of creative people within our community. We have a whole thread dedicated to housing the community made stories and artwork people have shared. There's also a role play where people have made their own characters and are sharing an adventure together. Since you like writing, I'll encourage you to check those threads out!

Welcome aboard!
I like the amount of effort you put into the introduction! I'm much more of a quiet person on voice comms as well, much more of a listener!
I hope you have a good time playing STO, I haven't touched the game in a while but I'll pick it up at some point again.
Since you like writing, perhaps in the future you can take a look at the News Team that we have here, fittlingly called the Federation News Service. Sounds like it might be your thing.
Hopefully I'll see you about!

Welcome aboard!
Quite the intro you gave there and nothing wrong with being a geek, a lot of us would fulfil that label either in whole or part! I used to be on the voice comms most nights, but real life reasons have kept me from getting on TeamSpeak properly for a while now, but hopefully we'll see you there in the near future.
There's a lot to get the head around with STO, but it's one of those MMO's that if you stop playing for a while or you're new, it's not overly difficult to catch up, just a tad time consuming, so you've plenty of time on the journey to find your feet and find that one ship which is your favourite. I'd recommend reading over the Star Trek Online forum, you'll find a ton of info in there and the various sub-forums that you'll find useful on the various aspects of the game.

Indeed. I am not new to MMOs, so the complexity on the surface of STO was unexpected though appreciated. I like seeing such games do things differently. Helps them stand out and gives me more of a reason to play them alongside other MMOs.

It is quite common for sure. After all, doesn't MMORPG stand for Many Men Online Role-Playing Girls? Haha. I can't say my reason for doing so is the same as theirs as Neveah is one of the least skimpy out of all my female toons and the fact that there is already a lot to pay attention to when it comes to these games.
The reason why I may have brought that up is that there have been a few players who assumed my gender in real life just because my personality seemed to blend well with my character (we're both kind of bubbly) and also because they had a crush on her. Funny, I know.
I'll give your art and fiction a look sometime.
There is a lot to learn in STO and we'll be sure to help you out any way we can.
I'll definitely ask about if something a tad too complex comes my way, but I do seem to be figuring things out on my own fairly well. I won't hold off on any assistance. Sometimes advice and whatnot has made me a better player in the past.
Since you like writing, I'll encourage you to check those threads out!
I'll make sure of that, thank you.
I like the amount of effort you put into the introduction! I'm much more of a quiet person on voice comms as well, much more of a listener!

Welcome to the community NeveahScottis!
What a nice introduction you gave us there. It was cool reading through it
I have also played the PC title "Star Trek: Elite Force" back when it was new and I still remember my experience with the game quite fondly.
Ohh.. then you want to check out Starfleet Tactical! We support Star Trek games outside of STO, from classic game titles like "Elite Force" to newer ones like "Star Trek: Bridge Crew" or the CCG "Star Trek: Adversaries". We also have currently a sign-up thread running for our Annual UFP Elite Force Tournament. The sign-ups are closing on the 11th August 2018.
You can check out the sign-up thread here https://ufplanets.com/showthread.php...t-Sign-up-2018 and with the announcement thread being here https://ufplanets.com/showthread.php...ournament-2018

Oh, I noticed! I'll have to boot the game up sometime; it's been a while, but I will look to broaden my involvement in the UFPlanets community after I do.
I understand that this is more than a guild for a particular title, but STO is was what brought me here.
