This is something I get asked a lot when my character is walking (yes walking, not running) around the social areas in game. So I was wondering if anyone else out there role plays their characters? I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore role player, but all of my characters have a backstory (and some of their bridge officers do as well). Sometimes I like to walk around when I’m at Starfleet Academy/Earth Spacedock/DS9/Risa/Qo’noS etc. to fully immerse myself in Star Trek. I’ve also been known to yell “There’s another ship coming in! Sir, it’s the Enterprise!” when ever she comes to my aid in a mission, which makes my husband laugh at my total geek out.
So in answer to the question, yes I do RP.

In game? Not really. D&D? Have the three core 5E books, but haven't once attended a session of any kind. On here? Two characters currently on Ares, played a doctor Captain on August when simming came back on the site & was apart of Holofederation, whom did SRP's on the ole RPG-X.

I don't RP in game in the way you are thinking but I do have a backstory for my characters, bridge crews, and ships...some more flushed out than others and all of my characters relate in some way.

While I like to give characters and ships a bit of a backstory and history, I do this largely for flavour and just to flex the old creative juices every now and then. In terms of actual role play, I do not, it's not my cup of tea personally.

Do I RP in STO? Not really...because I don't know many who play STO who RP in it...and last time I RP'ed with someone random they turned out to be quite the nutbar.
Person was telling me how it was game breaking that the Mirror TOS skirt wasn't as short as it was on the series. I laughed and thought he was making a joke...I kept going on till I basically said "No, it isn't game breaking" so they removed me from their friends list and put me on ignore.

I used to rp in sto a lot when I played fed more. But now I rp as a Klingon mostly to myself since I cant find a dedicated group with it.

I did join an RP heavy fleet a few years ago, they took it VERY seriously indeed; they would even run missions in character. It was all a bit too much for me at the time so I left but I still have all the biographies for my main character and her bridge crew written down somewhere. Some of the bridge crew I had back then have been "reborn" as captains in their own right; Gytaik Oma, my now level 65 Bajoran engineer, started life as one of Saelanna Navan's bridge officers before being recreated as my original Delta recruit.

Yes, and one of the strangest introductions to an RP I ever received was in STO.
A klingon approached me, complimented me for wearing clothes (?), and then invited me to his bridge, where I was suddenly subjected to a scene about my character having apparently walked in on him loudly reciting poetry.
Overall a nice fellow, very very strange.
