Greetings UFP!

My online game of choice is Lord of The Rings Online. I’ve played this game for over 11 years now (since the closed beta). I’ve taken a very leisurely approach to the game and still haven’t reached the level cap (every time I get close they increase the maximum level). I thought it would be very pleasant to wander around Middle Earth with some of you lovely folks should any of you have an interest in playing LoTRO.

To this end I have founded a new kinship on the EU-EN-RP (EU English Role Play) server Laurelin. The kinship is called “United Free Peoples” (can you see what I did there ). Feel free to add me to your friends list; the only character currently in the kinship is my elf hunter that you probably won’t be surprised to hear is called “Saelanna”; my husband will be assisting me to get all of my characters invited later on this evening. I have a ton of LoTRO points that I've built up over the last few months which I'm going to use to purchase a premium kinship house when we reach the appropriate rank.

There are about 6 of us who are currently active on LoTRO on Laurelin [EN-RP]. An event is starting every Wednesday at 20:30 UFP where we get together and run through quests/group content/deeds etc.

Laurelin [EN-RP]

Is that a Role-Playing server?

If so, how militant are people about 'playing the role' on that server? I've been on some RP servers on other games *cough*wow*cough* that had people ripping my head off because I didn't put 'OCC' in front of a chat message or use the right descriptive language when I was reporting a ganker in the Local defense chat (was on a rp-pvp server). As a Role Player, that experience soured my taste for MMO RP

While Laurelin IS a role-play server, no RP goes on outside the dedicated RP channel. Although if you call your character something obviously lore-breaking you’re likely to have it changed. Occasionally you’ll find a group of people role playing in places like The Prancing Pony, but as long as you don’t gate crash and break their immersion then you’ll be fine.

I've met some roleplay groups in Michel Delving in The Shire. Without noticing them, I jumped around on the roofs of the houses and rided through them without them even bothering about me.

What are Kinship Lifespan Ranks and what are their benefits?

Kinship Lifespan Ranks are kinship abilities which become available once a kinship has existed for a specific amount of time (real-time, not in-game time).

• Rank 1 - Creation/Kinship Chat, Max Kinship members available is 1000
• Rank 2 - 24 hrs: Message of the Day
• Rank 3 - 3 days: Kinship Titles
• Rank 4 - 10 days: Officer Chat
• Rank 5 - 30 Days: Kinship Mail
• Rank 6 - 60 Days: Kinship Auctions - Messages to Kinship reduced to 10 copper
• Rank 7 - 90 Days: Max Kinship members increased to 1200 -Mailing item to Kinship member becomes 50% cheaper - Leader can purchase kinship house
• Rank 8 - 180 Days: Max Players: 1300
• Rank 9 - 270 days: max 1400 members
• Rank 10 - 360 days: max 1500 members

We’re currently rank 5 and about 3 days from rank 6. The housing writs are 30% off in the LoTRO store so I’ve purchased the 36 required to obtain a premium kinship house when we reach rank 7 in about a month.

We are now the proud owners of a Belfalas Kinship Hall: Tol Lochul, Orndal, Belfalas Homesteads. When you next log in you'll have a new skill to transport your character there. I haven't got very far with the decorating yet, but there is a crafting area set up in the garden; go to the top of the slope, towards the house from where you appear, and turn right past the tents.

Disclaimer: go through the "Mysterious Door" that I've placed upstairs at your own risk (and make sure your map home isn't on cooldown)!

This game is my jam man. Really glad to see fellow LOTRO players on here, and on Laurelin too. I've been playing on that server for quite a while now and even role played in the past. I have a man hunter and I'd love to connect with fellow trekkies while playing.

In light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Standing Stone Games made the following announcement on their official site yesterday:

For Dungeons and Dragons Online:

• All dungeons and raids, including those in expansion packs, are open to everyone through April 30.
• The Buddy Bonus 5% XP will be active from March 20 through March 29. This will be in addition to the weekend events.
• Mimic event will be active starting March 26 through April 6.
• The anniversary event will be active starting March 26 through April 30.

For Lord of the Rings Online:

• All quests, instances, and skirmishes, including those in expansion packs, are open to everyone through April 30.
• The Curator will be returning starting March 26 through April 30.
• There will be a 10% virtue XP boost starting on March 26 through April 6.
• The Baggins' Birthday event will be available March 26 through April 6.

I've actually started updating Lotro yesterday because of this news. Kinda interested to actually further level up
