I know...we can't risk something happening to the kids haha. I taught a wilderness survival class over the summer and told the kids that we can't eat lunch until someone can start a fire with a bow-drill. It took all morning but someone finally got a fire going haha. I made it worse by making mine and telling them that it didn't count.

LOL! Oh, that had to be painful, knowing your fire didn't count. Still, there's nothing better to motivate them to make the fire.....

FYI on my most recent mission post, I didn't find too many details on the Battle of Tyra either in Memory Alpha or Memory Beta so came up with my own scenario of the battle. I wanted it to make sense with the idea of Gul Enok being a tactical genius so drew inspiration from the Battle of Cannae. One of the first recorded pincer maneuvers was used during the battle which led to the Carthage army's victory over the larger Roman Army.

Just a question for clarification on a post before that: I think I understand the Island base defenses pretty well, but I wasn't sure if the mountain base had the same type of shield and anti-shuttle defenses. It seemed at first as if the only defense was the kelbonite deposits that make transporting difficult, but the actual Nausicaan barracks were open to transport - only of course, they'd know what was going on and would kill hostages.

That's correct; Only the Island Fortress has the shield and anti-shuttle defenses. The Mountain Base relies on the natural kelbonite deposits with no additional weaponry or shielding protecting it. The base is surrounded by the kelbonite which is why it's somewhat difficult to approach - there isn't any within it.

A thought here; the barracks are separate from the alcove the hostages are being kept in. A few guards are posted to make sure they don't run but that means a quick ambush could easily overpower them before they can react. Who knows? Maybe a well coordinated strike group could get in, knock out the guards, set up a few pattern enhancers, and retrieve everyone before the Nausicaans know what's happening?

Yes, the guards that are directly interacting with the prisoners in the alcove are the real problem. That's why Biiqs suggested sending in something that could spy and tell how many. We pretty much have the tech to do that already in the present time. Pattern enhancers would work. Initially I was thinking about those enhancer darts the Son'a used in Insurrection. *LOL*

Just to explain my last post. A'Mand can rp something out with the Locke character if she chooses, or we can just say he consulted with her about the question Biiqs wants him to look into.

As far as the last part, basically I was setting up Jei and Cushing's side trip, so that their plight doesn't immediately come to anyone's attention. What is basically happening is that Cushing's request for a shuttle never made it to Locke or Biiqs, but was intercepted and approved by an unknown person in the security department. The NPCs Hayes, Kowalski, and Patel are the security officers/pilot that are escorting them.
